Casa Las Lunas
Casa Las Lunas is a white Spanish house, with magnificent mountain views and surrounded by olive groves. This lovely detached house is in a small cortijo with a cobbled courtyard and natural spring. There is plenty of walking and hiking through the groves and rugged mountains. You may see eagles while out walking and there are song birds around the property.

The villa has a large, comfortably furnished living room with TV, DVD player, open fireplace, and unusual mosaic style lighting panels. The front door leads from this room to a barbeque terrace with lovely views. Through two archways is the very large fully equipped, eat-in kitchen and wood burning stove, with a door to the sameterrace. Adjoined is a separate laundry facility with a fully automatic washing machine. There is a pretty tiled bathroom with double basins, wall-size mirror, bath, shower, suite and bidet. Upstairs are two large bedrooms, plenty of beds for visitors and children, and a cot and highchair can be supplied. The landing area with sofabed and table is perfect for a childrens project and play area, and a lockable door leads to the upper terrace with balustrades, enjoying panoramic views of the mountains. In the large garden is our own enormous rock with shade trees, and the area is cooled by mountain breezes in summer.

Just seven miles from the ancient town of Antequera, and within easy access of Malaga airport (45 minutes), Casa Las Lunas is near a wealth of architectural interest. Cordoba, Seville and Granada are all within easy reach by road. Nearby villages of Villanueva del Rosario and Villanueva del Trabuco are both good shopping centres, including antique and gift shops with, restaurants, bars and banks.

Sports and Leisure
Painting Holidays

The mountains, lakes and villages of Andalucia are a landscape painters and photographers dream. Sit on the terraces of Casa Las Lunas, walk a few hundred metres for yet another stunning view, or take a picnic and walk along trails nearby to paint the breathtaking scenery to the sound of distant goat bells. The smell of wild herbs along with carpets of wild iris in Spring all add to the ambience. Visit the Picasso art gallery in Malaga.

Swim

A quick run down the motorway to the Costa del Sol will take you to lovely swimming beaches such as Burriana Beach in Nerja, a quaint and lively town with attractions such as shops, restaurants, and the Balcon de Europa. Take time to explore the Costa del Sol with its wonderful sunny climate, many interests, garden centres and beautiful flowers, like bouganvillea. Alternatively, swim in the Guadalhorce lakes or the local village swimming
pool.

Caves

Take the opportunity to go on a caving trip in the Cueva de Nerja, or visit with the guided tour of massive cave galleries of awe inspiring beauty. The caves are mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records for housing the largest stalagmites and stalactites in the world.

Water Activities, Climb

River Guadalhorce lakes support many activities including fishing, windsurfing, canoeing, climbing, hang-gliding, swimming and hiking.

Ski

Granada, about 60 minutes from the villa, as well as being home to the Moorish Palace, Alhambra, boasts the Sierra Nevada ski resort, where skiing at any level is accommodated, and all ski equipment can be hired.

Cycle, Hike, Walk

Cyclists will enjoy the quieter roads through the countryside and pretty white villages, or the challenging mountain climbs. Within fifteen minutes is Rio-Frio for guided routes for mountain biking, road cycling, hiking, power walking and massage.

Horse Riding, Wolves, Childrens Zoo

Lobo Park is a unique park where five species of wolves are bred and socialized, and can be observed in natural conditions: there is also a childrens p zoo and horse riding for visitors.

Flamingos

Fuente de Piedra lagoon is the nesting place of flamingos, and the saline water has given life to many interesting flora and fauna.

History, culture, Festivities and Markets
Antequeras ancient history begins 4,500 years ago, when, during the Copper Age (Megolithic times) the dolmens or burial caves were built. The Moors and Romans followed later, leaving their individual architectural styles and remains, and most interesting is the Alcazaba Moorish fortress which presides over the town. Renaissance culture and art are also in abundance in Antequera. There are at least thirty churches with wonderful interiors and sculptures of notoriety.

Ancient Cave Paintings

The Cave of Dona El Desfiladero gorge has unique 20,000 year old paintings.

Antequera is renouned for its many celebrations of Christian Feasts throughout the year, in particular Holy Week, and holds Spring and August Fairs. In January, Kings Day is an important Christmas festival. The Bullring lies at the foot of Antequera, and there is a market once a week nearby. You can find a market somewhere in the region each day of the week, selling anything from local produce to antiques and flea market fare. In local villages you can see the running of the young bulls during summer months.

Jan says: "Casa Las Lunas, is such a typical white Spanish house it was exactly what we wanted. It was fabululous to sit on the terrace and watch the sun rise over the mountains. It was so peaceful and you would never know that the freeway is 2 minutes drive away which gave us very quick easy access to many places, The coast, Malaga, Granada, Ronda, Gibralta and not forgetting the beautiful town of Antequera only a short drive away. We found many interesting things to do and see quite nearby including El Torcal, Wolf Park and Flamingo lake. "
