Spetses is the southern-most of the Saronic Islands. It has an area of 25.5km2, with its sole road tracing the perimeter of the island, measuring 24km in length.
The population of the island numbers around 4,000, most of whom to be found in the main settlement on the island, Spetses Town, which spreads out over an area of around 4km along the coast.
Beaches
The beaches on Spetses are as diverse as the vegetation, ranging from large pebbles at Scholes on the northern side of the island, to the golden sands of Ag. Paraskevi on the south coast.
Some of the beach-side businesses have imported sand from elsewhere, thereby making what used to be just decent beaches into fun (for the kids) and comfortable (for adults) places to spend the summer
History
he earliest evidence of man on Spetses comes in the shape of two Mesolithic flint spear-heads. We also know that around 1170BC, towards the end of the Mycenaean Era, the island was attacked by Mycenaean forces.
At the division of the Byzantine Empire, Spetses was given over to the rule of the Venetians, who were replaced by the Turks in 1460. A second wave of refugees arrived in 1540, and the ships being built on the island grew in number and in size.
The Orloff Insurrection occurred in the second half of the 18th century. The first Russo-Turkish war ended in 1774. There then followed a period of rapid economic expansion for the island, given further momentum by the outbreak of the Napoleonic Wars.
The people of Spetses became extremely wealthy during this time, enough so as to allow them luxuries undreamed of in other parts of Greece, such as private tutors for their children. When the 1821 Revolution came, Spetses was the first of the Argo-Saronic islands to join the battle. One of the best-known of the brave warriors during this period, is also the only female admiral in Greek history, Laskarina Bouboulina.
Climate
Spetses Island enjoys typical hot Mediterranean summers with incredible blue skies and very little rain.
It's a dry heat that in some years can reach as high as 44 degrees C.

Getting to Spetses

The journey from Athens International Airport "E.Venizelos" to the port of Piraeus takes about 45 mins., either by taxi or on the Express E96 airport bus.

The journey on the comfortable and reliable Catamarans and flyin' dolphins from Piraeus, Athens to Spetses takes 2 - 2.5 hours, stopping at Poros and Hydra on the way.

... By Car from Kosta

From Kosta on the Peloponnese mainland to Spetses by ferry takes about 15 mins on the regular crossings throughout the year. During the high season cars are not allowed in the main town, so you have to park your car in the Kosta parking lot. 

The penthouse appartment is fully equiped, fully AC. Is in a very quiet neighbourhood not far away from the center of Spetses town. Spetses town is (as mentioned above), the main settlement of the island.
It's an ideal choice for a family with kids as it is in a walking distance from shops, kids' play ground and island's port. On it's huge veranda you can have a secure place for your precious ones to play and have fun.
 

 

The apartment comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 2 twin and 2 cots. The property also has 1 single sofa bed located in the living room, 1 double sofa bed located in the living room. This gives room for up to 7 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The apartment has 1 bathrooms for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the apartment cool. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The apartment has television. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this apartment.

The apartment is in a very quiet area. It has a north facing balcony, sea views, panoramic views.

The apartment is right beside boat hire, fishing, walking, cycling, historic sites, a museum, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Close to the apartment you will find a beach, swimming, sailing, mountain biking.

Within easy reach of the apartment you will find water skiing.

Paul says: "We were met off the ferry by the family and brought to the apartment. We received a great welcome from other family members, who live nearby, and were shown all aspects of the apartment. The fridge was stocked with all we would need until our visit to the supermarket. The apartment had every facility needed for a short or a long stay - all we needed were our clothes and toothbrushes! There was airconditioning, TV and even books to read. The apartment was in the town, but still in a very quiet, private location. The apartment and all that goes with it we could not fault, and it way exceeded our expectations. We will be back here sometime and can not recommend it highly enough.
