The mountain village of Høvringen is situated at 1000 m.a.s.l. in the north of Gudbrandsdalen, as the western gateway to Rondane National Park.
The area is well known to have a reliable,dry climate and great, varied hiking-country. Prepared ski tracks during the winter season and marked walking routes in the summer invites you to a spectacular outdoor experience.

SUMMER - A time for discovery

The landscape surrounding Høvringen is impressive. A comprehensive network of marked paths carries you into the mighty mountain landscape of Rondane. You can choose from short walks in ancient pine forests, walks in easy mountain terrain or more demanding walks to one of Rondane's many peaks over 2000 metres a.s.l. There are numerous small and large mountain lakes, rivers and streams which give good opportunities for a bit of fishing or a refreshing swim.


The late summer and early autumn in Rondane has a charm of it's own. Mother nature has already begun to prepare for a long winter, and can show off a sparkling explosion of colour without comparison. By then, you'll have more of Rondane all to yourself, giving you the space and time to peacefully and quietly enjoy the mountain landscape at it's best. Late summer and autumn is also the time to collect berries and fungi. Blueberries and mountain cranberries cover the forest floor of the valley sides, and on the mountains you can hunt for hidden gold- cloudberries.
In addition to the numerous hiking opportunities, Høvringen offers a wide numer of other activities like fishing, mountain horseback-riding, mountain biking and boat rental. If you feel like taking your car for a ride, Høvringen is an excellent starting point. The well known rafting-rivers of Sjoa, Otta and Lågen are reachable in less than an hours drive. There is also plenty of local culture and history to dig into through Gudbrandsdalen valley during your stay in Høvringen. We can recommend a visit to Jørundgard Medieval Centre, the old preserved farms in Heidal or a walk through the world of Kristin Lavransdatter.

WINTER - Great skiing country and a stable climate

It's the majestic white mountain sides of Rondane you first meet on your arrival in Høvringen. A reliable, dry climate, shimmering mountain plateux, prepared ski tracks right outside your cabin door and exciting route options with degrees of difficulty to suit everyone.


Høvringen is the beginning of network of marked routes, both through forest and mountain ground. About 150 kilometres of prepared routes surround Høvringen. The area is very suitable for all ages and skiing abilities. Those who desire strenuous trips to the peaks of Rondane can do so, and if you'd rather prefer a short morning trip through the forest, there's every opportunity in the world for this.
Høvringen Ski School both rent out and sell skiing equipment and clothing as well as offer basic training and guided cross-country trips.
There is no downhill slope in Høvringen but several resorts are within reach by car. The nearest is at Dombås, about 30 minutes to the North. Kvitfjell and Hafjell, both used during the Lillehammer Olympics, are situated about 1- 1,5 hours further south in Gudbrandsdalen.

The cabin has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The cabin has television dvd. The music system will play radio.

There is room for 8 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle. You will also find a dish washer. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
