Casa Azahara is a 400 year old traditional Moorish townhouse which has been beautifully renovated. It is situated just off the main Plaza Almijara where you can enjoy a selection of tapas while admiring the the Iglesia de Asuncion a distinctive landmark of Competa which this year is celebrating its Ano Jubilar.
Access to the guest apartment is through the cool reception area of Casa Azahara to a traditional Andalucian patio, and then through to a sunny courtyard and up some steps. The front door opens directly into the cosy livingroom with open fireplace for winter use, there is a fully equipped kitchen, shower room and large twin bedroom.
Underneath the apartment is a further twin bedroom with ensuite shower room and seperate access from the courtyard. *This second bedroom is optional and is not included in prices quoted.*  

Competa is one of the famous white villages of Axarquia and nestles at 650 metres in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara, a protected nature reserve with spectacular scenery, flora and fauna set against a backdrop of 2000 meter high mountains, making Axarquia one of the most dramatic landscapes in Andalucia.
Competa is a haven for walkers, lovers of the outdoors and those who appreciate the spanish way of life. With an average 320 days of sunshine a year the area around Competa has one of the best climates in Europe, making here an ideal all year round destination.
Competa is fascinating to explore with its labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets dating back to Moorish times. It has an excellent selection of quality restaurants and bars catering to every taste, its fresh seafood and locally produced Competa wine being a speciality.
The walking routes within minutes of Competa are internationally famous, for those who dont wish to walk, the mountains can be explored by horseback at the nearby trekking centre or motocross tours can be arranged. Mountain bikes are available to hire at Casa Azahara.
A car is not neccessary in Competa as there are several supermarkets, bakers, farmacias and a market on a Saturday, but for easy access to the beaches at Torre del Mar and Nerja a car will get you there in 35 minutes, the bus could take longer..........The ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the Palace of the Alhambra are a two hour drive away and golf courses, the waterpark and the cinema and bowling alley are half an hour by car.
Five minutes walk from Casa Azahara is the Hotel Balcon de Competa which has a beautiful pool and tennis courts that you can pay to use. A day pass is around 5 euros which includes use of the two pools, sunloungers and the bar/restaurant with spectacular views to the Med  

 

Accommodation is offered in a pretty one bedroom apartment situated within Casa Azahara. It is accessed through the main house and sunny courtyard. There is also an optional 2nd ensuite bedroom with twin beds available with seperate entrance from the courtyard. Prices quoted do not include the second bedroom
