A rural villa with its own pool in about 2 acres of land,
nestling in the mountains below the Sierra Tejada National reserve, just outside the picturesque Andalucian village of Canillas de Aceituno, an hour from Malaga airport and 25 mins. from the coastal resort of Torre del Mar. 

If you are looking for a restful holiday but wish to be handy for the airport and beach, this is the place for you.
Within 20-30 mins you get to the beach for pedalos, jet-ski, wind-surf, diving and restaurants galore. See awesome caves in the pleasant resort of Nerja. Visit the Aqua Park, go horse riding, go-karting or play golf at the Baviera course.
You can walk to the bat cave, passing an old mill and pool, lovely for a dip on a hot day as is the pool in the Sierra Tejada Park on the road to Sedella.
You can visit the old town of Antequerra with its castle, wolf park and olive-oil museum, see 1000’s of flamingos in Fuente de las Piedras (seasonal), watch and eat fresh trout at Rio Frio and bathe in hot springs at Alhama on your way to Granada, with its magnificent Alhambra Palace. Ronda, Seville, Cordoba, Marbella and Gibraltar are also all within reach.

Of course you can always go nowhere…in spring listen to hoopoo, frogs and nightingales, find wild orchids and irises, smell the orange blossom; in summer swim in the pool, sunbathe, or sit in the shade of the carob tree, hear the goats and sheep, with their bells, as they meander across the hillsides and watch shooting stars by night.
 

Our villa has 3 bedrooms (1 double, 2 twin), lounge, dining area, kitchen and bathroom. It is simple and unpretentious, with high vaulted, beamed ceilings, pine doors and window shutters and is well equipped and simply furnished. There are terracotta terraces to the front and beside the private swimming pool, and a rear yard.
A traditional large carob tree shades the front terrace.
The villa is supplied with town water and electricity. Bottled gas is used for heating, water heating and the cooker hob. There are two gas heaters and a fire but you will find the villa cold in bad weather if you are used to central heating. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking and tableware, including electric kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, food processor and coffee maker. There is a 4-ring gas hob, a combination convection/grill/microwave oven, a fridge/freezer, an iron and board, and all the necessary cleaning equipment. There is no washer or dish-washer, as we believe these to be wasteful of water. Sink water drains to a soak-away to feed the bamboo.
The bathroom has bath and simple shower, loo, bidet and basin.
All bedrooms have large built-in pine wardrobes.
The dining area has a large extendable table and six chairs. You will find games, cassettes, CD’s and a CD/tape/radio. There is an information file and you will find many books. We have elected to have no TV, for greater relaxation and sociability and there is no telephone.
Outdoors, there are tables and chairs, picnic and garden benches, parasol, and sun-loungers. There is a built-in BBQ next to the pool.
 

Our villa is just outside Canillas and is reached by a 2km road (nearly all tarmac but the last 100m rough), passing the boundary of the reserve. It has views onto vineyards, citrus groves and natural hillsides. The majestic peak of Mount Maroma, which is occasionally snow-capped, stands 2065m above. We call our villa Bajo la Maroma, (beneath Maroma).

The villa comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 2 twin. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has a private south facing swimming pool, a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The villa is right beside swimming, walking.

Close to the villa you will find shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find a beach, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, horse riding, golf, scuba diving, historic sites, a theatre/cinema.
