Casa Alma Buena is a typical Spanish village house with a double bedroom and bathroom with shower upstairs and a door leading onto a large terrace with steps to the garden. Downstairs is a sitting room with an open fireplace, another small room that could be used as a study or a small kids room, a kitchen and a second bathroom with a small bath.

This village house is full of possibilities - the garden is large, with an area just off the roof terrace that is shaded by a gazebo. Lots of space for relaxing or for a barbeque as the sun goes down. There are many different types of plants and herbs in the garden - please use what you find!

The house can sleep 4, there is a sofa bed in the sitting room and one in the kitchen - however there is plenty of room in the garden and terrace if camping is your thing!

Right by the side of the house is space for parking 2 cars - a blessing at the weekend as the main village gets very busy and parking is at a premium - the main square of Riofrio is only a couple of minutes walk away over the old bridge.

Casa Alma Buena at the Riofrio is in a great location, close to everything but at the end of a no-through road. There is a track that leads uphill from here and you can walk for miles and miles through the countryside with its diverse habitat and wildlife, or walk the whole way to Loja.

It would suit a couple, a small family or a group of friends who want to explore the surrounding area. 

Riofrio is just off the A92 motorway midway between Malaga and Granada. It is a favourite place for people who like the countryside - and it is as popular for those who like to eat trout as it is with people who like to catch them! There is fishing all year round but you will need a fishing permit.

Riofrio is also famous for its caviar and sturgeon and they have Russian specialists to teach them how to care for the sturgeon.
The fish farm here is thought to be the first organic certified sturgeon farm in the world - it is the only farm to have the Acipense naccari species of southern European sturgeon - indigenous to Andalucia but thought to be extinct in the wild.

On Sunday there is a busy craft market and people come from miles around to spend the morning at the market, trout for lunch and then a walk along the riverside in the afternoon.

There are 14 restaurants in the village - serving local specialities including my favourite - grilled trout with an almond and saffron sauce.

4km away is the historic town of Loja - dominated by the limestone massif of the Sierra de Loja. The Alcazaba fort is a monument from the time of the Moors. Close by are a series of magnificent waterfalls, Los Infiernos, on the Genil river. There are also over 50 limestone caves close to the town.

Granada is not far away with the famous Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada Mountains – so if you like skiing you can do so – all year around. Guadix is worth a visit - it is a village with many cave houses.

Take a trip to ski in the Sierra Nevada, golf on one of the many courses along the coast or book a tennis court nearby. There are hot springs down the road at Alhama de Granada and the historic towns of Malaga, Granada, Sevilla and Cordoba are all within striking distance.

Other popular activities in the area include caving, fishing, horse riding, windsurfing cycling and hiking and several more. The area is extremely beautiful, with breathtaking views and plenty to do and see for a great holiday in Andalucia, southern Spain.

The village house comprises 1 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has 2 single sofa beds located in the Living room. This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
