Chestnut Cottage
John and Marian invite you to rent this 300 year old farm homestead ' Chestnut Cottage' which is situated on the McDonald farm at Lusmagh, Banagher, Co. Offaly only 1 Km from the River Shannon. This is the only rental property on the farm and is Bord Failte (Irish Tourist Board) approved. It was the original home of the McDonald family for generations. The Chestnut Cottage has been lovingly restored, keeping as much as possible of the 'Old World' character of the cottage while adding all the modern comforts. It is located close to the main farmhouse, in a nice farm garden with an orchard.Dogs welcome!
LOCATION:
The Chestnut Cottage is in the Galway/Offaly area, three miles from the popular riverside town of Banagher in Co. Offaly. The wide bridge which crosses the River Shannon to County Galway opens the way to tour the west of Ireland. Banagher is famous for its Irish music pubs, its river cruises, Bog walks and rail tours, great Fishing, (both coarse and salmon and trout.), Excellent super markets and shops, Restaurants, and Hotels. Most of the pubs serve really good food also.
Accommodation
Heating There is oil fired central heating which can be supplemented with solid fuel and electric heaters if desired. Likewise, the water can be heated by the oil, electric, or the solid fuel or a combination of all three
The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, washing machine, fridge, microwave, iron, toaster, and coffee maker, Tea towels and washing-up cloths are provided.
The living room has an Aga type solid fuel range (peat turf is supplied free) There is a colour TV and dining and sitting area.
The bedrooms are two double rooms and two single rooms. Two of the double bedrooms can convert to twin rooms. If you prefer a smaller cottage with only one bedroom two of the bedrooms can be closed off
Bathrooms: There are two showers and two wcs, one of which adjoins two of the bedrooms.

ANGLING
Flowing through Lusmagh and Banagher the River Shannon is the major waterway in Ireland. The Little Brosna joins the Shannon at Lusmagh and the Grand Canal joins the Shannon just up stream at Shannon Harbour as also does the Brosna River. All these water ways provide unbeatable angling. There are great stocks of fish including salmon, trout, bream, tench and perch in abundance. The area boasts excellent fishing access and facilities, bait shops and outboard boat hire
