Le Chataignier is a converted barn of the highest specification, full of original oak and stone features, with a light and spacious interior and 6 double bedrooms that will sleep a family or group of up to 12 people in total comfort.

Entering from the courtyard you will find a lounge with a large patio window facing the courtyard and the morning sun. Plenty of comfortable seating around for everybody for an evening in with a boardgame or just to sit and chat. Off the lounge there is a modern and well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge-freezer, oven, hotplates, micro, kettle, coffee percolator etc. The kitchen offers lots of storage and plenty of worksurface. There is also a kitchen table. Double doors opening into the large dining hall (9m x 4.5m) where there is a long dining table - plenty large enough to seat 12 people or more indoors. Also a bar for serving drinks from!

From the kitchen and the dining hall, french doors open to the private garden with sunken paved terrace and also a covered terrace with outdoor dining under a candle chandelier. Bbq is also provided.

Also on the ground floor a luxurious walk-in shower room and sauna + utility room with washing machine, toilet and wash basin.

Climing the oak staircase to the first floor you will find a large, rear facing (West) double bedroom with chesnut floor and high ceiling with original oak beams. At the front is second double bedroom leading to a third bedroom which is a favourite with children of all ages, where one wall is replaced by sliding safety glass doors from floor level (with appropriate security railing on the outside). The room receives the morning sun and whoever sleeps there will be softly woken by the first rays. The fourth bedroom is of the same specification but has two single beds instead of a double. Upstairs also a beautiful bathroom / wc with high ceiling and oak beams with ancient pigeon hole that has been restored into a little window. Two further bedrooms are accessible through a doorway on the landing, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom. These two bedrooms are connected by a en-suite shower and wc.

Le Moulin de Grolhier is located in the Dordogne , north of Nontron in the "Perigord Vert deep in the Perigord - Limousin Natural Park. We are between 3 cities: Perigueux, Limoges and Angouleme, near the small, picturesque hamlet of Busserolles. If you are looking for an ideal setting for a French walking holiday or cycling holiday in France, then you will find a good selection of marked tracks, some starting nearly from the front door.
For those keen horse riders amongst you we are ideally situated for a horse riding holiday as there are stables available just under 10 minutes drive away.
Why not use Le Chataignier as a base for your golfing holiday as there is a 18 hole golf course 10 minutes away.
There are plenty of lakes for swimming, fishing, boating etc and rivers for canoeing. Fishing on carp stocked lakes can be organised. Please contact us for details.
The countryside around us is calm and quiet. The large lake (27ha) in front of the property is a migrating bird sanctuary, full of wildlife. It is common to see deer, wild boar, red kite, buzzards, red squirrels, bats and barn owls getting on with their daily (or nightly) business.

We have a games room with a pool table and table-tennis.

There are tennis courts available in Busserolles and a small swimming lake that has play-area for smaller children. And of course an abundance of fascinating sites and museums throughout the area.

There are big weekly markets in near by towns of Piegut and Nontron - perfect places to pick up local produce and practice your French!

There are superb restaurants, offering "cuisine perigordine (lamb, duck, goose, foie gras, truffles, walnut etc.) and friendly bars within a short drive of the property.

Nearest supermarket is in Piegut 5km away.
 

Le Chataignier has a private covered terrace with table and chairs and a BBQ to the side of the property and a small private garden and is surrounded by over 4 hectares of shared manicured grounds which you are free to wonder. There is a games room available to all with a pool table, ping-pong, electrical darts game, board games, cards, etc.

The country house comprises 6 bedrooms in total; 4 double, 2 twin and 1 cots, 2 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the Living room. This gives room for up to 12 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The country house has 3 bathrooms and 3 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm. The country house has a sauna.

The country house has . The music system will play radio. Recreational activities available with the country house include a snooker/pool table, table tennis.

There is room for 12 in the living room and 12 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
