The 17th century Château Monferrier was reputedly a hunting lodge of Louis XIII. It is situated on a hill in 23 hectares of beautiful woodland and fields and approached by a long avenue of chestnut trees.

Le Pavillon is a self-contained cottage standing in the south east corner of the courtyard of the château. It has been completely restored by its English owners who live in the château and is very comfortably furnished. Guests have the use of the huge swimming pool (18m) immediately in front of the château and a new tennis court in the grounds.

The luxurious facilities and spectacular setting of this unique property make a holiday at Le Pavillon very special.

Founded over two thousand years ago, Périgueux, préfecture or capital city of the Dordogne, is a gracious blend of ancient and modern. It is useful as a base from which to explore the Périgord Blanc area, so-called because of the bright white limestone used in so much of the architecture.

Périgueux really comes to life on Wednesday and Saturday mornings when there is a fois gras and truffle market on place St-Louis in Puy St-Front (November to March) and a food market near the cathedral on place de la Clautre. The best medieval street is the rue Limogeanne, where rows of restored Renaissance houses are now used as boutiques, which leads to the Musée du Périgord, one of the best prehistory museums in France with Gallo-Roman mosaics, portraits of the twelve Caesars and other such artefacts.

Rouffignac (8km SE) is one of the longest and most ramifide caves with palaeolithic paintings. An immense cave that you can explore from the comfort of an electric train...

The cottage comprises 1 bedrooms in total; 1 double and 1 cots, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. . This gives room for up to 2 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The cottage has 1 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

There is room for 2 in the living room and 2 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle. You will also find a washing machine. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The cottage is in a very quiet area. It has access to a shared swimming pool, a garden, a barbeque, a tennis court. If you are driving there is private parking.

The cottage is right beside swimming, walking, tennis.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find fishing, golf, historic sites, a museum, shopping areas.

The owners of the castle act very friendly and efficiently without trying to socialise with the visitors of Le Pavillon. When you are a crazy workaholic and still love your wife, Le Pavillon is the place to catch up with her. Beware of the advises written in the guestbook as far as recomendations for restaurants are concerned if you are not Britisch; you might get disappointed. At this point we shared President Chiracs' vision. The owners of the castle are the best hosts you can dream of."
