The location.
This delightful original Perigordine cottage has private parking and outside shaded patio with views over the village.
Local shops are just around the corner and the supermarket is less than 500 meters away.
You have the choice of eating in or eating out and can walk to one of the local inexpensive restaurants or bars. Pop out in the morning to pick up your freshly baked croissants and bread.
For that special gourmet meal you should discover the restaurant Belle Etoile a 5 minute drive away at Le Roque Gageac. Here you may enjoy a wonderful meal in lovely surroundings at a very reasonable price. The Perigord is renowned for it's gastronomy and is the best value for money in the whole of France.
Strolling around the village is a joy, with the narrow streets, the weekly market, the tiny village chapel and the speciality shops. The River Dordogne and it's riverside beach and canoeing is also within walking distance of the cottage.
The ancient bastide of Domme rises up behind the village and several footpaths lead you through the picturesque countryside to one of the most beautiful villages in France. A 360 degree panorama gives amazing views over the Valley of the Dordogne. Here you will find many more restaurants and small shops to browse around.

The area.
The river Dordogne majestically winds it's way through the region crossing the Perigord Noir and passing the village of Cenac et St Julien which lies at the foot of the medieval bastide of Domme. To the west a short distance along the river you will find La Roque Gageac as equally picturesque and steeped in history as is Domme. A little further along is the famous Chateau of Beynac.
The entire area is steeped in history and pre-history, counting the world famous site of Lascaux within easy reach. From the dawn of time man has left his mark in what must surely be described as one of the most beautiful parts of France. From cave dwellings to fairy tale castles the views and scenery are breath taking.

Dordogne cottage rent reviews
Judith and Adrian says: "May 2007 - Thank you for renting us your lovely cottage. It certainly lived up to expectations, beautifully renovated and decorated and with everything we needed. We had a wonderful holiday with plenty of bike riding when the weather was good and visits to grottes and gouffres on the couple of rainy days we had. We also enjoyed a delicious meal at La Belle Etoile - thank you for the recommendation. We will certainly be recommending your cottage and the area to friends at home as a perfect holiday destination. Best wishes Judy and Adrian."
