The area is Dumfries & Galloway and represents Scotland in miniature with rolling heather clad hills,
forest and mountain walks. There are friendly villages, romantic Castles, ancient Standing Stone sites.
It is a land of rivers and lochs, hills and forests with over 300 kilometers of coastline winding between
craggy headlands and sandy coves. It is an area of many fine sandy beaches and sheltered fishing Ports.
High Drumfad House is situated in the area known as the Machars., which has been called
"Scotland in miniature". The area has beaches, harbour villages, forest trails, archeological digs, the book town
of Wigtown, and a literary trail for fans of Robbie Burns, Gavin Maxwell, John Buchanan and Dorothy L Sayers.
Many golf courses including Turnberry are within easy reach, wildlife parks, castles, sailing, mountain climbing,
cycle paths and walking are amongst the many attraction the area has to offer.
High Drumfad House commands spectacular views of Fell and nearby Loch.
The Cairn on the Fell looks out across the sea to the Mull of Galloway, The Isle of Mann and Ireland.
The Galloway Mountains form a majestic backdrop with snow on the peaks and the Forest stretching away to the North.
The house is situated on the Fell in its own Gardens at the end of a drive 1 mile from the main road.
The House has a sunny entrance hall, a large inner hall leading to dining room, a 25 foot lounge leading
through patio doors to a glass sheltered 300 sq ft patio, a study with large log burning hearth.
The ground floor also has a fully fitted Bathroom with shower.
A kitchen over 30 feet long is fully equipped with all appliances.
A breakfast Ingle-nook, rear Hall with WC & wash facilities and a 20ft long Conservatory completes the room count
 

Drumfad House has a large Conservatory and a Dinning Room seating eight persons.
The Master Bedroom and bathroom has extensive views and has the sun all day.
Wild life abounds with Deer, fox , rabbit all around the House & Gardens.
All species of bird can be seen including swan and owl.
The first floor Patio is an ideal place to enjoy the late afternoon basking in a lounge chair enjoying a drink.
All Bedrooms have extensive views over the adjacent Gardens, Fell & Countryside.
Electric off-peak Heating throughout the House is availiable for colder periods. Booking Conditions 2a includes all electric usage which is metered and charged at net(Supply Authority Rate)to the Security Deposit.
All telephone usage is charged at cost against the Security Deposit
Spring Water Supply to House is fully automated and with capacity for full usage of facilities.
Drive is 1 Mile long to the main road.
Hard standing Parking for ten Vehicles.
Three separate Lawns are available for Picnic or Barbecue.
The ground floor Patio is Surrounded by glass wind-break and has lounge seating for 8 Persons.

The Gardens of the House have three lawns, a woodland walk, ancient ring stone and a vista of wild flowers
and flowering trees and bushes.
The House has 20ft by 20 ft open patio and a car park for 10 cars.
The ferry to Ireland is only 25 miles away at Stranraer. Glasgow and Edinburgh are 2-3 hours drive away.

The House stands at the end of a its own sweeping Drive which is 1 mile from the nearest public road. Set amidst it's own Gardens on the Fell, with sweeping views down to the nearby Loch and the Galloway Mountains beyond, it provides a spectacular sanctuary for the enjoyment of all that Scotland has to offer. You will be able to enjoy and appreciate the "Scottish Experience" and explore Scotland from this luxury base. Glasgow aprox. 1 1/2 hours - Edinburgh aprox. 2- hours - Ireland by nearby Ferry aprox 2-hours - English Lake District aprox. 2 1/2 –hours

The country house comprises 4 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 3 twin, 2 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has 1 double sofa bed. This gives room for up to 10 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The country house has 3 bathrooms and 4 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The country house has television video, dvd. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio. If you need to keep in contact there is a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.

There is room for 8 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this country house.

The country house is in a very quiet area. It has a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, a west facing balcony, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The country house is right beside walking, historic sites.

Close to the country house you will find a beach, swimming, sailing, fishing, cycling, horse riding, golf, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the country house you will find boat hire, climbing, mountain biking, a sports center, a museum, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.

Castles and ancient Monuments. Various Ancient Ringstone sites over 2000 BC Ancient Burial sites

Lindsay says: "Very disappointed with the standard of accomodation. Kitchen floor was unsafe and during our stay several areas of the floor collapsed. In one of the bedrooms the ceiling was leaking and we were unable to use the bedroom. The entrance/hall that is described as a possible bedroom was also leaking. Wires were visible throughout the house. Access to the house is very poor. We were advised on arrival that the fridge wasnt working and no attempt was made to offer us an alternative."
