Goldsmid Mews is a charming mews just on the border of Brighton and Hove (actually). This reference to hove in case you have ever wondered comes from the Hitchcock film 'The Lady vanishes'. This is the perfect area to have your cake and eat it, turn right at the end of the road and walk into calmer, stylish Hove with its hoards of chic restaurants, bars, boutiques and style living shops straight out of 'Interiors' or 'House and Garden' magazines, or turn left and go into the lively metropolis of Brighton town centre.


Parking
This property has a garage available for your use @ £5 per day. The garage can be used as parking for 1 car or extra storage space for prams etc or even for bike storage.

Day Pass Parking Vouchers may be purchased at a cost of £5 per day. These allow you to park in zone M only. Please select the number you wish to order in the 'optional extras' section of the property booking form.

Brighton’s excellent public transport system (see below) allows easy and affordable travel throughout the City and East Sussex. For this reason the majority of guests park in a permit free zone and access their car only when needed.

Pay and display bays around Brighton & Hove are approximately £1 an hour 8am – 8pm.

Resident bays and Pay and display bays are free to park after 6pm or 8pm depending on the zone.

Property lowdown
Goldsmid Mews has free WIFI and a laptop for your use. Plus a telephone with free calls to landlines to 32 European Countries as well as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and US!

The house itself is located in a quiet and private gated mews. Built in 1860 it was originally the coach house for the local police station before being converted into printworks and finally a terrace of 6 houses in 1998. Number 6 is the end of terrace and this part of the building housed the hay bales for the horses and still has the original beams under the plasterboard in both of the bedrooms giving the upstairs of the house quite a different feel to the contemporary modern living space of downstairs.

Don't be fooled by the cottage feel of the outside, inside is open plan with 12ft ceilings, bamboo flooring and all mod cons for easy living. The open plan style makes Goldsmid Mews the perfect place for friends getting togther for a party weekend or for families with its wipe clean black leather sofas, glass dining table and wall mounted TFT screen and video/DVD player. The lounge area also houses the double sofa bed sleeping 2. Upstairs is more cosy with the master bedroom having a kingsize wrought iron bed.

A selection of board games, video games and books are supplied for those cold winter nights in!

Bedroom 2 you can choose to have as either a twin, or put the beds together to create a super kingsize bed. The bedrooms benefit from a connecting door to keep your party in full swing or to keep an eye on your little angels.

The bathroom comprises of a relaxing whirlpool bath & a shower with jet sprays!

Everything you will possibly need is just a stones throw away, including the stoney beach! But at least sand doesn't blow in your sandwiches. Incidentally, what starts as uncomfortable rocks to sit on at the Pier end of Brighton turns into quite comfy shingle near the house. The nearest pub is the Farm Tavern just 10ft away from the entrance of the mews. At the end of the road is Barneys bar and brasserie - great for food any time of the day and has an allday breakfast menu for late risers. On the other side of the road is The Freemasons, which was once a pub is now a chic bar. But if you prefer to start your party off at home Threshers at the bottom of the road caters for all your drinks tastes. Perfect to practise your cocktail skills with the cocktail mixer and cocktail book provided for you. Threshers also has the nearest cash machine when you're ready for your night out although there is a charge. If you want to avoid this unnecessary expenditure there are others if you turn right at the end of Farm Road on the same side of the road on the right hand side. Keep walking a few yards past the cash machines and you'll come to a Tesco Metro. For a wider range of food and groceries, turn left at the end of Farm Road and walk for 5 mins along Western Road and you'll come to Waitrose. Along your way on the other side of the road just 2 mins away is the Post Office.All your entertainment requirements are a just along the road including bars, clubs, restaurants, the pier, cinema, theatre, leisure centre and of course an abundance of shops, therefore a car is not at all necessary. If you would like to go a little further afield bus services are excellent and there are even open top ones during the summer months that go to the Marina or to Devils Dyke.
