The Area
This charming Périgordian property consists of 3 tastefully renovated cottages gathered around a central courtyard, put to lawn, with garden tables and chairs for dining in the open and enjoying barbecues under the starry night skies of the Dordogne.
The houses nestle on the hillside of a tranquil, thickly forested valley, enjoying magnificent views all year round. The property is ideally located just 4 and a half kilometres from the pretty village of Plazac, with it’s café, bakery, organic grocery store and an ancient church and presbytery. Also, just 6 kms from the property is the small country town of Rouffignac with it’s more extensive shops, pharmacy, banks, bakeries and more. The town enjoys a small Sunday market, it’s own prehistoric caves visited on a tiny electric train and it’s 13th century château. This area of the Périgord Noir is one of the richest and by travelling over a radius of 35 kms one may find inumerable sites of interest: the town of Les Eyzies known as the centre of Prehistory in Europe is located 16km away; the medieval town of Sarlat is 32km; the town of Montignac, the famous caves of Lascaux dating from15 000BC are 15 kms away.

La Siguenie
Upon arriving at La Siguenie, guests will find the property on the left, and a large new swimming pool set to the right. This large new pool measures 12 x 6mtrs, is fully fenced and surrounded by a spacious patio area with sun beds for relaxing on hot summer days.
The houses are accessed via a large gateway leading into the pretty courtyard with the pale yellow stone walls complemented by large flowering shrubs and pots of flowers to welcome you on the start of your holiday.
Firstly, to the right is La Maison, accommodating 6 persons. The front door leads to the second floor and into a bright and pretty living-dining room, with a dining table for 6, a comfortable settee, two armchairs and a decorative fireplace. Leading off from the living room is the first spacious double room with an extra single bed and a cot if required. Guests will find en-suite bathroom with shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet adjacent to the bedroom.
Downstairs is the fully equipped kitchen, with a fridge-freezer, oven, hob top, microwave oven and all modern appliances and necessities. The kitchen opens via large French windows out to a covered patio in the grassed courtyard with garden furniture and table tennis for entertainment. There is a second toilet on this floor and also a second bathroom (shower, wash basin & WC). The second double room with an extra single bed is also on the ground floor and again, opens via French doors onto a small balcony with views down the valley.
All the rooms in the property are prettily decorated, most have tiled floors and exposed beams on the ceilings and combine old with new to make a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Each house has it's own garden table and chairs and a barbecue allowing for everyone to enjoy the on-site conviviality as well as occasional moments of privacy.
To the left of the courtyard is The Studio, accommodating for 2 persons. The studio is accessed via some characteristic old stone steps leading directly to the living area. Triple French windows look out over the courtyard and views making the room bright and pleasant. There is a comfortable settee and coffee table for relaxing, a small dining table for breakfast and a fully equipped kitchen area (equipped as La Maison with the exception of an oven). The bathroom is modern and pretty with a bath and shower attachment, WC and wash basin. A solid wood and glass screen separates the bedroom area from the rest of the studio and makes this an ideal rental for a couple to enjoy their holiday.
Finally, on the opposite side of the courtyard is La Grange for 8 people. The main door leads to a small hallway ; to the right is the main living area, and left leads to a second independent studio area for 2 persons. The studio is composed of a living-dining area with a fully equipped kitchen (as in ‘La Maison’), a cosy double bedroom with doors to the courtyard and an en-suite bathroom. The main living area of La Grange is composed of a fully equipped kitchen area with all facilities and a dishwasher as well; a large living-dining room with settees, arm chairs and a dining area for 8 or more. Large French windows open out from the lounge on to a private wooden patio set on stilts, and again, enjoying the garden and valley views. This patio is perfect for the surveillance of children in the smaller swimming pool. On the first floor of the house are 3 bedrooms; one double room and one twin room sharing a bathroom with shower and a separate WC; and one double room with an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, WC and wash basin.

La Siguenie is a wonderful property and we feel confident that any guests will agree with us ! The multiple facilities ; one swimming pool ; the 4 independent kitchens ; 4 living areas ; numerous bathrooms and the many sitting areas outside allow for larger family groups or groups of friends to enjoy quality time together whilst enjoying moments of privacy as well. The geographical location will also allow for all tastes, close by are numerous sports facilities - horse riding, canoeing, tennis, golf, cycling; numerous cultural sites of interest - caves, archeological sites, châteaux, medieval towns and villages; and there are plenty of well stocked shops for those who prefer to stay by the pool and taste the local wines and gourmet delicacies !
