Porto Petro is located within the resort of Cala d'Or and is made up of hotels and tourist apartments. Since the 15th century there was a trading port here, which was used for exporting Santanví stone and importing wheat. There was even a customs office to control maritime trade, but at the end of the 19th century its trading function fell by the wayside and it was reduced to a fishing port. It is now a colourful port and is home to the Reial Club Nàutic de Porto Petro (Royal Sailing Club); most of the boats here are pleasure craft and this is the departure point for boat trips along the coast to the Cabrera Natural Park. Construction of the first buildings here started at the beginning of the 19th century and in 1959 the tourist transformation started with the building of the Hotel Nereida,

The country house comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. . This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this country house.

The location of the country house means you will hear some noise, though not excessive. It has a private south facing swimming pool, a south facing garden, a summer house, a south facing patio area (with heater), a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking.

The country house is right beside swimming, walking.

Close to the country house you will find a beach, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, tennis, scuba diving, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the country house you will find golf, a sports center.

Lisa says: "On Arrival we found the property to be clean and tidy but the bottom of the pool was dirty. There was no DVD as described in the property details so the the kids weren't able to watch some of the DVD's we took along for the colder evengs we spent indoors. There was little in the way of basic cleaning materials i.e. Dish cloth/sponge-scourer, or any surface cleaning stuff etc. The chest of drawers in the bedroon were broken and there were no creal bowls. There was a slight leak in the toilet adjacent to the kitchen and the shower rose in the same room sprayed water over the shower curtain and therefore the kids used the other shower. If it was 500m to the beach then this could only be in a direct line because we found it closer to 1.5km to walk there. The bedding may be appropriate in the hotter months but we found it very cold in the evening. There was a portable electric heater that we used but we didn't use the portable gas heater in the absence of a carbon monoxide detector. I'd suggest supplying quilts would be a better option for the colder months. The washing machine didn't seem to want to do a spin cycle. On the penultimate day our water supply stopped and our gas ran out but we were able connect the spare gas cylinder to the cooker gas supply and used pool water to wash on our departure morning. Disappointed there was no Welcome Pack or courtesy call. A nice touch would be to leave a Welcome Pack with a few tea bags, Coffee and Milk at very least. A kettle is a must for English guests because we love our hot cup of tea particularly in the morning. The adjacent area was extremely pleasant with some wonderful beaches and I say that it is possibly the best area on the island for beaches."
