The resort's ski facilities have been subject to multi-million Euro investment that has rapidly turned Bansko into a candidate to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (mid-December to May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts, coupled with the best Apres-ski in Bulgaria. The old town offers a unique and vibrant experience with over 100 traditional 'mehanas', many of which have live music.
