La Boulangerie
This charming stone and oak beamed converted bakery in the award-winning village of St Gilles de Vieux Marche which is famous for its floral displays.

In the heart of Brittany, the village is just 90 minutes from the ports of Roscoff and St Malo and the airports of Dinard and Brest. The large house, which was used as an hotel annexe after the bakery closed, can sleep up to 12 people in 5 ensuite bedrooms. The spacious lounge has a woodburner set in a beautiful Breton fireplace. A newly fitted kitchen features the original baker's oven. Full central heating makes La Boulangerie the perfect retreat regardless of the season.

Ground Floor: The tiled floors downstairs make for easy maintenance. The lounge, which was used as a function room by the hotel, has a leather suite and easy chairs with local antique Breton furniture. English satellite TV, DVD player and CD with radio are installed. A large table and chairs are provided to enable you to enjoy those long endless French meals made from real food, fresh from the local markets.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern units, cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. Ample crockery, cutlery, cookerware and glasses are stored in the units along with a mixer/juicer and slow cookpot. A kitchen table and chairs can be used for the informal meals or the intimate dining experience away from the children. The old bread oven and beams add tons of character to this culinary gem.

A large en-suite bedroom cum playroom is ideal for teenagers or those unable to climb the stairs. A bed settee and bunk beds offer a flexible living area. Various games are provided to while away those days when lazing around is your choice.

.
A utility room off the rear hall houses the central heating boiler and a washing machine. A separate WC is located at the bottom of the stairs.

What a way to start the day!

A separate WC is off the corridor linking the bedrooms.

Outside: The rear door opens onto a magical, fully enclosed walled garden, terrace and large slate-tiled patio. When the sun shines this is a private tanning heaven. Beautiful scented roses bloom all summer long to add to your pleasure. Garden furniture including sun-loungers, hammock and barbecue are provided.

Kate says: "The location is beautiful and there is plenty to do in the local area. The lake was fantastic for us as we used it for water skiing (and it was free!). Plenty of good restaurants nearby and all the people we met were very friendly. The only (very small) complaint was that, although clean sheets were brought for us, there was no other maid service during our two week stay. "
