Fuerteventura villa rental details
Why Choose Villa Bocaina?
Villa Bocaina is on the front line of a unique development set in 400 acres of rugged natural beauty. It’s situation, on the north coast of Fuerteventura, midway between Corralejo and El Cotillo, affords it immediate access to the most unspoilt and spectacular coastline and stunning volcanic landscape in the Canary Isles. The villa is named after the extensive views it affords, across the 'Straits of la Bocaina', with Lanzarote clearly visible and less than half an hour by boat,.
Situated less than 50 miles from Saharan Africa, Fuerteventura has a subtropical climate similar to that of Florida and Mexico. With sunshine all year around, warm, crystal clear water and over 150 sandy beaches, Villa Bocaina is the perfect destination for those who want to escape the package holiday experience, and get to know the real Fuerteventura.
Due to it's unique location, car hire is essential although the nearest village with restaurants, shops and a good supermarket is five minutes by car and thirty minuets by bicycle!
Less than a four hour flight from most UK airports and with easy and inexpensive car hire, you can be relaxing under the Canarian sun, or swimming in it’s warm clear water in no time at all. An added bonus is that there is no time difference between the United Kingdom and The Canaries so no jet lag either. You really should arrive bright and fresh and ready to start your holiday straight away!
About the Villa.
This is a two bed room villa with private gardens and terraces, set on a secluded coastal development, in a beautiful and unspoilt area of the Island. Stunning volcanic landscape surrounds Villa Bocaina, providing the habitat for the wildlife for which Fuerteventura is justly proud.
Our new villa is comfortably furnished, offering a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy your stay. It is fully equipped with everything you need for an easy and enjoyable self-catering holiday.
The lounge area opens onto the front garden and terrace, complete with outdoor furniture, allowing you to enjoy el fresco dining or to simply sit and soak up the Canarian sun. You can relax whilst listening to music on the DVD, (which has MP3 Porthole / music card or USB facility). Additionally, there is a TV should you wish to watch DVD's. there is a modest collection of DVD's at the villa for your enjoyment as well as some CD's.
A fully fitted kitchen includes a ceramic hob, full size oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, automatic washing machine, toaster, kettle and a good range of cooking utensils and equipment.
From the double bedroom upstairs, with fully fitted wardrobes, you can step out onto the spacious upper terrace. From here you can enjoy unparalleled sea views across the Straits of Bocaina with Lanzarote clearly visible, not to mention the spectacular mountainous volcanic landscape.
The twin bedroom downstairs, also with fully fitted wardrobes, opens onto the rear garden; again offering views across to Lanzarote and the mountains.

There is a stylish and modern bathroom on both the ground and first floor, each with bath, shower, toilet, bidet and full size sink.

Location and surrounding area.
Majanicho
Just a short walk away is the small fishing village of Majanicho. Totally devoid of any commercialisation, people visit to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the bay, the extensive coastal walks and the stunning volcanic scenery. Sunrise and sunset are favourite times when the changing colours of the mountains can be breathtaking. The sheltered bay makes it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, fishing, kite and wind surfing, rock pooling or just messing around!
Villa Bocaina lies half way between Cotillo and Corralejo, on the famous north shore track. The road winds its way around the rocky volcanic headland, faithfully tracking the coast in either direction. Each twist and turn will reveal another breath taking view, be it the huge Atlantic rollers crashing relentlessly onto the black volcanic rock, the quiet sheltered beaches or the impressive mountain views with there ever changing colours.
Lajares
Villa Bocaina is a 5 minute drive from the small town of Lajares, which has all amenities including local bars and restaurants, a well stocked supermarket, pharmacy and a French bakery selling the most delicious range of bread, cakes and pastries! Once the lace making centre of the island, Lajares is a typical Spanish town with a very relaxed atmosphere. The traditional sport of Canarian wrestling can be enjoyed here with a brand new arena currently under construction. It also has three surf shop’s including the famous ‘North shore’ surf shop as well as ‘Magma’ Kiteboarding shop, both offering hire of equipment and tuition.
Corralejo
To the east of Majanicho lies Corralejo, only a fifteen minute drive . The islands principal and most multinational resort, offering a wide range of activities and facilities. There is something for everyone in Corralejo. You can browse around the wide range of shops, enjoy the choice of restaurants and bars, swim in the clear turquoise water lapping the sheltered white sand bays, or the more energetic may want to splash around in the water park, have a go at diving, snorkelling, wind or kite surfing, book a jet ski, fishing trip or excursion on a catamaran. From the busy working port there are daily boat trips to the island of Los Lobos, regular ferries to Lanzarote and markets every Monday and Friday. The old town and harbour area of Corralejo is a delight for those visitors wanting to relax in a more laid back atmosphere. You can amble along the promenade or sit and watch the boats coming and going from the harbour. The music square in the old part of the town is a favourite meeting place for visitors and locals alike, particularly in the evening when the place is buzzing with atmosphere. Whether you want a quiet relaxing drink or take in a show, Corraeljo’s choice of bars and restaurants can cater for all!
El Cotillo
To the east, also a fifteen minute drive, lies El Cotillo. A very relaxed Spanish fishing village also populated by people of all nationalities who come to enjoy the laid back way of life on the island. From the new harbour at the end of the main street, you can watch the local fishing boats coming and going and enjoy fantastic views across the bay. The beaches to the left are a must for all surfers and those wanting to enjoy the miles of stunning cliff top walks.
The bars and restaurants in El Cotillo reflect its relaxed atmosphere and in the Old Harbour which boasts an attractive new promenade, you can sit and enjoy a drink on the terrace whilst taking in the spectacular views across the old town and out to sea! One of the main attractions of El Cotillo, is the lagoons to the north of the village; a group of powder white sand coves and the warm, crystal clear water, an ideal spot for families to idle away time and enjoy safe and easy swimming.
What you can do!!!
Villa Bocaina's position on the north shore makes it a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, whether you want to swim, fish, snorkel, windsurf, bodyboard, kitesurf, surf, or splosh!!
Surfing
With good reason, the surfers 'bible', 'The Stormrider Guide to Europe', describes The Canary Islands as 'The Hawaii of the Atlantic'. Open ocean swells from three directions unload on volcanic reef and points with power comparable to just about anywhere in the world. Add to this, year around warm, clean water, with just the need for a shortie and rashie most of the time and you start to understand why this is such a popular, year around destination. Situated on the North Shore, Origo Mare overlooks some of the best, if not the very best of these reef breaks. Known to the locals as Derecha (The Right), or in Britain as 'The Bubble', this is a consistent right of exceptional quality and can be seen working from the upstairs roof terrace! A short walk will bring you to this and several other exceptional reef breaks, Hierro, Izquierda, and Majanicho. Two exceptional beach breaks are a short drive away, and a day surfing Lobos, a short boat trip from Corralejo, is a must. This peeling, tubey right can offer rides of over 400m when conditions are right!
Diving, Snorkelling and Fishing
The warm, clear waters of The Atlantic are the perfect place to enjoy these sports. A Padi dive school operates out of Corralejo, as do many sea fishing boats. A popular choice with young and old is a 'snorkelling safari' to Lobos. Described as 'Wild, wet and windy, and operating from an inflatable craft, it is not to be missed. Julie and Becky spent a week over the New Year snorkelling in Majanicho harbour and can vouch for it's warm water and abundant fish life. Basic fishing and snorkelling gear are included in the rent of the villa.
Walking, biking and birdwatching.
Described as a haven for walkers and bird watchers alike, peace and tranquillity is really just around the corner. Origo Mare lies some three miles from the start of 'The Volcano Walk' which begins in Lajares and finishes in Corralejo. Described in some of the guide books as the best walk on the Island, it follows a natural ridge with diversions up to look into the crater of an extinct volcano.
For those interested in Birdwatching, Fuerteventura has a lot to offer as it's natural open spaces make it quite easy to observe species that are difficult to spot in other surroundings, including the other islands of the archipelago.
Trip to Los Lobos.
Part of the Natural Park of Las Dunas of Corralejo, Los Lobos is a great place for all the family to enjoy. The main beach is a crescent of white sand offering safe bathing and snorkelling whilst fishing off the rocks can be very productive. Lobos is also a haven for ramblers and birdwatchers. Well marked trails cross the island, including one to the summit of an extinct volcano. Lobos is famous for it's unique fauna, over 130 different types of plants. Herring Gulls and Cory's Shearwater nest on the high crags of La Caldera. As well as it's unique bird and plant life, Los Lobos also offers three species of reptile, two of which are endemic to the area, The Haria Lizard and the Lisa Majorera Chalcides Simoneyi
Mountain biking
Fuerteventura is a great place for cycling and there is no better place to start than Origo Mare. With the famous North Track running outside it's 'front door', it is a popular route for mountain bikes as are the network of unsurfaced tracks across the mountain terrain. There are many well-maintained bike tracks across the island, and many secluded bays and beaches with no car access, but good bike tracks leading down to them.
Ventura biking, which is based in Corralejo, has a range of quality mountain bikes and also runs guided day bike tours. The other option, if you really do prefer a road bike, is to take you own. Airlines will carry a bike in the hold, providing it is properly packaged in a bike bag, and so will some of the larger buses used for public transport on the island.
