Our first visit to Lanzarote was to the north of the island which is very beautiful with it’s dinosaur shaped mountains, canarian palms and strong surf. Later we came to Playa Blanca, known locally as ‘the pearl of the south’ in this Unesco designated Biosphere Reserve and fell in love with it’s nice seaworthy flavour….. a village of white washed houses with a small harbour, a coastal walk (lined at the town end with bars and restaurants, right on the edge of sea) and the small cove shaped beaches. … and even in the Canaries the weather is better in the South!

We knew this was the place we would like to live in permanently, amid lunar-like backdrops and fascinating geological oddities. but it was too soon for us to retire here… Yet, smitten, we bought Villa Mar and fitted it out to offer the ultimate level of comfort for us, our family and friends, with everything needed to relax in luxury and enjoy the sunshine, whilst being located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We love to sunbath here on the terrace during the day in complete privacy, dipping in and out of our own pool; stroll thru the sports port marina rubicón with it’s stylish upmarket shops, retaurants and bars, or wander to the new centre of El Pueblo at Las Colorades; sometimes cooking on the large garden BBQ at home or alternatively going to one of the many tempting seafood restaurants, tasting ‘catch of the day’ with the canarian speciality ‘papas arugadas’. In the evening we love to have a ‘sundowner’ on the balcony and watch the boats sailing into the marina…..

COME AND ENJOY IT! Unfortunately, we can’t be there as often as we would like and feel it is a shame to leave it empty. Villa Mar is tastefully decorated in a contemporary style, down to the last detail, in tune with its surroundings - an island with a perfect year-round climate, that boasts a complete line out of facilities to fulfill just about everyone’s leisure needs. And because of the proximity of the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura, Villa Mar is a perfect starting point for excursions to explore it too. A car is not a necessity here, you can walk or taxi cheaply to restaurants, shops ans bars and you can join the hotel groups for coach tours, etc. However, if you like your independence there are lots of car hire companies close by offering very good value.
 

Villa Mar is a luxury 2 bedroom, self catering, privately owned, semi detached duplex villa, with an easy layout and has the advantage of it’s own private pool (heated from September to April), large terraced areas, professionally planted garden and a lifesize BBQ! It is situated in the ‘urbanizatión’ of San Marcial del Rubicón which has a full sized supermarket, taxi rank and 5 star Iberostar hotel all within 50 metres of your front door. It is 2 mins from the coastal path, a stunning scenic walk which will take you east to the world famous Papagayo beaches or west to Pechiguera Lighthouse, both extremities of the island on the south coast. A short stroll along here will take you to the marina at Puerto Rubicon, the Princess Yaiza 5 star Hotel and Playa Blanca itself. To indicate distance, a taxi fare from Villa Mar to Playa Blanca is usually less than £2.

Outside Villa Mar..... Set inside a walled private garden, is a very spacious area, containing a beautifully tiled patio and terrace with a private pool. The villa is south facing and receives all day sun on the pool and terrace. The professionally planted garden, outdoor lighting and large BBQ that is a pleasure to use, create an ambiance that is ideal for relaxing or entertaining and you and your companions can dine, have a drink or just relax around the large patio table shaded by the overhead balcony and parasol as needed. There are also 4 very comfortable ergonomic sun loungers with different positions for your back and legs and beach towels for these and the pool. There is a shower beside the pool.


Inside Villa Mar….. The villa has been decorated to a very high standard and equipped down to the last detail, you will find everything you need for your stay. It is completely private.


The living room….. has a full wall of patio doors looking out to the patio area and pool. It’s decorated in a relaxing comtemporary style with a very comfortable 3 seater rattan sofa and 2 armchairs, cushions, halogen spot lights - bright for reading, and an uplighter for watching the flat screen TV which has 8 local channels and 300+ satellite channels, home cinema and a DVD/CD/MP3 player. There is a coffee table, occasional furniture and high ceilings with 2 portable fans for cooling temperatures. But more than all that, it’s bright and airy, yet always cool inside, making you feel at home, relaxed and comfortable unlike in a hotel.

The kitchen….. is a dream! Fully fitted out with cherry units, granite worktops, complete with full size oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, extractor and all the crockery, saucepans, oven and tableware necessary to do a full dinner party! There are lots of glasses too (including plastic ones for use around the pool) and a complimentary bottle of wine and water on your arrival. There is a separate utility/breakfast room with a washing machine, iron, ironing board and all the more boring things....

There are two bedrooms….. one with a queen sized bed and one with twin beds. Both have lots of storage with fitted wardrobes, bedside lockers, full length mirrors and a chair in each. There are good quality pillows, cushions and light duvets on the beds with extra pillows and blankets if required. You can sleep comfortably and peacefully here at night here. The main bedroom has a balcony with sea views and looks onto a park of elegant Canarian Palms and exotic Hoopoe birds. There are four chairs on this balcony, though you may like to just keep it to yourself for a morning coffee or evening drink - choosing between the view over the Bocayna Strait to Fuerteventura’s famous beaches and sand dunes and it’s northern island Lobos or the marina view…

The upstairs bathroom….. is a full family sized room, fully tiled with w.c., bidet, bath, power shower, handbasin, large mirror, vanity top and good lights. Soft hand and shower towels are provided. The downstairs bathroom, is also fully tiled with w.c., power shower, handbasin, large mirror, and good lights. There is also an outdoor shower beside the pool.

Cleaning/Towels….. The villa is cleaned thoroughly before your arrival and then weekly. We have an excellent linen and towel service, changed weekly and towels twice weekly. The pool and beach towels are cleaned / changed every week.
 

Whatever you want.... sun, sand, sea, beaches, mountains, view, walks.... Whether you wish to visit the tourist attractions on the island maybe natural spots like Timanfaya with volcanos, historical heritage, camels, unique beaches, protected landscapes, lava fields, leisure and sport activities, vinyards, salt mines; stroll through town centres and enjoy shops or markets; eat in Spanish, Italian, Tex Mex, Japanese, Chinese Restaurants or enjoy tapas bars or French Crepes or ice cream; swim, bowl, surf, sail, golf, walk, run, jog it’s all close by. However, as Villa Mar is a very comfortable villa with an amazing fit out, it’s own private pool and garden you may never wish to go out, just relax and soak up the sun …….. 

Close by to Villa Mar you will find many 5star hotels, all offering tours and evening entertainment which you can join in. There is a lovely park just across the road, a kiddies/family playgound, bungie jumping, trampolines, crazy golf, bowling all within 5-10 minutes walk. Then there are the Cesar Manrique attractions, Timanfaya volcanos and craters, salt mines, scenic drives, camels, vineyards, etc. all wonderful easy day trips.

The villa comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. . This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use.

The villa has television and home cinema with dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

It has a private south facing swimming pool, a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, a south facing balcony, sea views, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. Close to the villa you will find a beach, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, walking, cycling, mountain biking, tennis, scuba diving, historic sites.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find horse riding, golf, a sports center, a museum, a zoo, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.

Phil says: " The property is in a quite location, only 12 - 13 minutes stroll along the sea front to the new Rubicon marina where there are lots of restaurants and bars.(or 35 minutes from the centre of Playa Blanca). A reasonable sized supermarket is only 150 yards away along with a taxi rank if you don`t feel like walking. (whist we hired a car we found it a waste of money) The accomadation is furnished to a high standard and therfore we felt `at home` straight away. (very clean and nothing old or shabby) External to the property is a very private patio and pool. We would not hesitate to book this property again if we came back to Lanzarote. "
