Puerto Mogan is a delightful combination of the original whitewashed fishing village nestling on the hillside which overlooks both the golden sandy beach and marina harbour below.
Nicknamed “Little Venice”, the resort has been carefully designed with a maximum of three levels to maintain its unique ambience. Behind the marina harbour, where yachts from the world over are moored, is a charming network of walkways and canals overhung with colourful tropical flowers and plants.
There is a wide choice of excellent restaurants, cafés and bars in Puerto Mogan, many overlooking either the beach or the harbour, and also a variety of shops, boutiques and a good supermarket.
Activities generally revolve around the water and apart from swimming and sunbathing include diving, fishing and yacht trips. You can take the glass-bottomed ferry to Puerto Rico and Arguineguin, although there is also a good local bus service and taxis are on hand at reasonable rates. Debbie says: "We were expecting the property to be facing the beach, although it was a few minutes walk, this wasnt a major problem. The cleanliness was good. It was described as having two bathrooms it only had one. The TV had no english channels and the radio could not be worked! The place was very hot inside there was no air conditioning and it was hard to sleep! Especially the downstairs bedroom which had no doors or windows! The third bedroom would have been better without the bunkbeds as my sons are adult size but we coped! The owners were polite and friendly and very helpful. Seeing to problems straight away that we had with the house. The resort was quite scary to get to as we had to drive around several mountains - but that is probably like it around most of the island! Overall it was quite good value for the villa."
