WINTER - Snow-clad highlands and challenging mountains
On a beautiful winter's day, Sigdal and Eggedal municipality is sheer paradise for skiing enthusiasts. A bare 100 km from Oslo, on the sunny side of the Norefjell resort area, we offer you a variety of cross- country and downhill skiing challenges.
Haglebu Ski Centre has a family- oriented resort lying on a sunny hillside. The double rope- tow ski lift has a high capacity, and there is plenty of snow! Snowboard enthusiasts will also find excellent conditions. The Tempelseter Hotel has its own ski rope tow.
Sigdal and Eggedal offer a wide range of walking terrain, from bare mountainside to forests. There is a network of well prepared, marked ski trails running from Eggedal centre, Haglebu , Tempelseter and Høgevarde (1468 m above sea level).
There are other new and exciting pastimes to try. How about a high- speed trip on a snowmobile? Or a romantic sleigh ride with hot mulled wine, in bewitching terrain. We also have fine tobogganing slopes, and excellent ice-fishing
For those of the "couch potato" persuasion, we have a variety of restaurants providing delicious home-made traditional dishes in pleasant surroundings.
SUMMER - Spectacular countryside offering a variety of experiences
Sigdal and Eggedal has plenty to offer in summer too. The shifting mountain and forest terrain is ideal for long walks, and there are magnificent mountains waiting to be climbed.
The bare face of Andersnatten has proved irresistible to many a mountaineer. There are well marked paths running between cabins and "seter" or mountain dairy farms.
Surrounded by tarred timer walls, turf-covered roofs, and the sound of cow bells, you will experience old-fashioned mountain dairying and taste real "seter"cheese...Delicious!
On warm summer days, the fjords, rivers and mountain lakes are full of bathers. Come evening, you can rent a boat, use your fishing permit and try your luck. Good fishing!
There is excellent hunting for hares, grouse and elk in the forests and mountains of Sigdal and Eggedal. We also have reindeer and you can use your hunting permit in several places.
A number of ancient burial sites have been found just north of Haglebu, along an old mountain track. You can also visit Haglebu Mountain Church at Grantangen. The church is built on historical ground where the Norwegian forces fought one of the last battles of World War II on 26. April 1945.
For speed and excitement, take a trip to Sigdal Motor Centre! You can drive a rented Go-Kart on a king-sized outdoor track at a top speed of 70 km/hour.
