Go… exploring

The Costa Blanca offers such a wide variety of activities that holidaymakers are spoilt for choice. Sightseers delight in the Moorish castle at Guadalest, the Castell de Santa Barbara in Alicante or the area’s countless historical churches. Explorers take to the cool Sierra de Aitana mountains, discover caves and waterfalls and breathe in the fragrant citrus groves. For others a range of sports are on offer, including a coastline filled with some of Spain’s best golf courses. However you choose to spend your holiday, you will find something to suit you.

Go… to the beaches

The white sandy beaches of Costa Blanca offer every modern convenience and many have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness. Water sports, diving and sailing can be found in most places along with beach bars, restaurants and shops. The shoreline is dotted with rocky bays and secluded inlets good for diving and fishing - but it is the clean white sand gently sloping into clear sapphire water that really appeals to families and couples alike and makes a holiday in the Costa Blanca one of the most popular in Spain.

Go…shopping

Shopping on the Costa Blanca is some of the best Spain has to offer. Coastal town streets are lined with shops selling everything from handbags to lace, and perfume to sun cream. Most items are competitively priced and a good buy in the area is locally produced leather goods and shoes. For fun shopping, visit a lively night market – stalls are filled with hand-painted ceramics and colourful rugs as well as 'designer' bargains. For chain-stores and more sophisticated designer wear, visit Torrevieja's newest centre Las Habeneras or browse along the esplanade and try the turron (nut nougat) a local delicacy.

Go… for nightlife

Costa Blanca is one of the Spain’s hottest nightspots and countless bars, discos, clubs and pubs draw partygoers all along the coast.
Try a traditional paella to the sound of Spanish guitar, or enjoy local tapas and watch a flamenco display. Or simpy stroll along the harbour and soak up a warm summer evening under the stars…

Take time to go…
· To a local fiesta. Witness the epic battle between the Moors and Christians, or watch giant effigies burn on the bonfires of the Fallas.
· To Terra Mitica, the largest theme park in Spain. Ride through the myths and legends of the ancient world. The brave can try the Tizona – an inverted rollercoaster that reaches speeds of 62mph!
· To the Castell de Santa Barbara at Alicante and enjoy the wonderful view of the city from its lofty tower.
· To Europe’s only palm forest at Elche and the Parque Municipal inside the city to enjoy its grassy tree-lined walks and adventure playgrounds.
· Discover Alicante’s oldest building the Museu de Arte and view its impressive modern collection including works by Dali and Picasso.
· Take the ferry from Alicante out to the tiny island of Tarbarca (nature reserve), choose a seafood restaurant in the quiet fishing harbour and enjoy a lazy lunch alongside a rocky beach with crystal blue water.
· To a local market and taste the finest oranges in the world.
· Take the children to AquaPark and dive through the waterfalls, conquer the rapids and slip down slides at this marvellous water park.
