Villa Raquel was built in 2006 and the new apartment was completed in 2007. Situated in a small private urbanization of detached villas and yet only a short walk to the main la Marina urbanization and all the amenities. The area is very quiet and secure. The villa is completely walled and gated and has ample off road parking spaces (Motor homes arriving will need to check for height restriction on driveway entrance, see picture 17). The apartment is large, with 140m2 of inside space, you will not be feeling squashed in. The interior of the apartment is finished to a high standard, with Roca bathrooms, black leather sofas in the lounge area and modern high gloss and stainless steel kitchen fittings. Each bedroom has large built in mirrored wardrobes with storage. Both showers in the apartment are complete with quality fittings and full size glass shower screens. Located on the apartments large, outside covered terrace area, which is a VERY useful extra 35m2 of living space, you will find comfortable, luxury banana leaf seating with tables and a radio/cd system . From inside the apartment, the views through the three sets of sliding doors onto the terrace and pool areas is really quite stunning. All doors to the apartment are metal multi-locking and windows are fully double glazed and fitted with roller shutters, mosquito blinds and special window locks. When the going gets tough during the hot summer months, the terrace is complete with 3 large retractable awnings, that will keep you cool and in the shade. Just added this summer is a fantastic covered patio/BBQ area, which has seating for 10 around the large, tiled, concrete table and benches, a perfect area to dine "al fresco" style.

Villa Raquel is only a short 20 minutes drive south from Alicante Airport and only 40 mins drive north of Murcia Airport. From the villa it´s only 5 minute walk to one of the four commercial areas in the locality, all of which are fully serviced by regular buses, taxis, supermarkets, banks, clinics, bars, restaurants, and local tour operators. La Marina also has it´s very own Police station, ambulance centre, tourist information office, English speaking dentist surgery and medical centres. Many fantastic cuisines are on offer from traditional Spanish fare through English, Italian, Dutch, German, Indian, Thai and Chinese. Try anything from Pizza, Burgers, fish and chips, to excellent meat dishes, local grilled fish dishes or any type of paella dish (rice dish with choice of mixed sea food, chicken, pork, rabbit or vegetarian etc). Try some traditional Spanish Tapas in one of the many tapas bars around the area. All Local restaurant menus come at a VERY reasonable price.....for example Spanish restaurant Menu of the day is around 10.00€ (or less) for 3 courses incl drinks, or an evening meal for two with drinks for around 13.00€ per person, REALLY. This area is very much residential and does not have tourist prices......yet!
The excellent and renowned white sandy beach of La Marina (which has received a Blue Flag award) is approximately 2 kilometres away and has a great beach bar and restaurant. There is a regular bus service to the beach from the village in the summer months. For those who don´t drive, a local community bus is at hand taking passengers all around the locality, and the bus stop is just around the corner from Villa Raquel.
We have an excellent large local market here on Thursdays and Sundays and it´s only 10mins walk from the villa!!! On offer at very low prices are, footwear, clothes, jewellery and lots of other things including fresh fruit and veg etc....

A car would be very useful.......but is not essential. Car hire prices here are VERY reasonable! For example:

The lively towns of Santa Pola and Guardamar del Segura are close by (10 mins drive respectively). Santa Pola is home to one of the largest fishing fleets on the Eastern Mediterranean coast. Watch the boats come into the harbour and off loa d their daily catch. Go to one of the many fish stalls located right on the harbour and purchase some excellent fresh fish.
Guardamar is built around the river Segura, it has lots of nice shops, a beautiful town square and a fantastic beach. Take a walk around the pine forest trails or bring the children to the park and see the roaming peacocks, ducks and terrapins
The beautiful Ancient and Historic, University City Of Elche, which has over 300.000 palm trees in and around the streets and parks, is only a 20 minute drive inland.
Alicante City with its fortified castle overlooking the bustling harbour, beach and promenade area, is a must to visit.
There is so much to see and do, plenty of culture and shopping with great gastrometry.

For golf lovers, the closest 18 hole course is La Marquesa situated at Rojales about 10mins drive away. There are numerous other fantastic golf courses in the area. Alicante city course(25 mins away), La Finca in Algorfa (15 mins away) and Villa Martin (30 mins away) are all but a few. The famous golf courses and sports complex at La Manga (popular with Premiership football teams) are approx 45 mins drive away.
Daily boat trips to Tabarca Island from Santa Pola and Alicante. You can be dropped off on this habited Island, where you can just sun bath on the quiet beach, go for a stroll around this small island or snorkel in the crystal clear blue waters. Have some lunch in a local bar/restaurant and return to shore on a later boat.
The fabulous theme parks in Benidorm, namely Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia and the famous Benidorm Palace are only 45 minutes away. If you don´t wish to drive, coaches leave from the village on a regular basis, not only going to the theme parks and the palace, but also on the many other excursions that are available, both in the local area and further away. For example, visit the caves, shoe factory, wine makers, chocolate factory and shopping malls in Murcia, also the Fortuna natural Spa´s which are only a 50min drive.......plus many many more!

Closer to home and only minutes from the villa, you can play out door bowls, go racing on the go-kart track, go line dancing, or play bingo. Enjoy a day out to the zoo in Santa Pola. Visit one of the three gymnasiums in the locality. If it´s winter, have a swim in one of the local spa´s indoor, heated pools, or book in for some "pampering". You can hire mountain bikes, go walking, take scuba diving or wind surfing lessons or just go to the local pub for a meal and play snooker/pool on the full size tables......There is also some excellent Carp/mullet fishing to be had on the river Segura 5 mins drive...or 20mins away is a stunning lake at Torremendo, free fishing for zander, carp and barbel.............There is lots to do, so you won´t get bored!!!
