The town of Santiago de la Ribera is situated on the north shore of the Mar Menor, 5-10 mins drive from Murcia (San Javier) airport and 25 mins drive from the La Manga strip.
Costa Calida offers the best climate in the whole of Spain , warm and dry throughout the year, with little rain and a large number of hours of sun per year. From the dune belt spread with salt ponds on the western coastline through to the Cabo de Gata with its fine sands and isolated coves, protected by mountains, cliffs and finishing with the beaches of Vera, for those wishing to get closer to nature with its splendid naturist beaches. Mar Menor
The Mar Menor (‘Little Sea’), found in the south-east of the region of Murcia on the Costa Calida, is Europe’s largest salt water pool - a shallow lagoon of some 170 square km. The area is a haven for all types of water sports, including sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing and diving.
The average annual daytime temperature here is 24 C and the winters are very mild with little rain. With over 3000 hours of sunshine a year and such a mild climate, the water temperature can reach 30 C in summer.
The area also boasts many excellent golf courses, including Campo de Golf Villamartin, Real Club de Golf Campoamor and the famous La Manga Club
