The Los Balcones complex is situated in the small Spanish holiday resort of Santiago de la Ribera. Santiago nestles on the north western shores of the Mar Menor (translates literally as small sea).

The town has evolved from a small fishing village into the favoured summer destination for well heeled Murcians. Many of whom have built their holiday homes along the Mar Menor coastline. There are approximately 30 bars and restaurants situated in the town. The cusine ranges from typical Spanish tapas, Italian, Japanese to Chinese. It is a leisurely 15 to 20 min stroll into the town centre.

The beach is a 10 to 15 minute walk. The beach and the palm tree flanked esplanade runs from the town to Lo Pagan 3km away.

The Mar Menor, with numerous sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, has become one of the highest regarded tourist ares on the Mediterranean, a paradise between seas for all types of water sports and activities that can be practiced at its numerous clubs and sports schools.

La Manga, a narrow strip of land approx 22 kilometers (14 miles) long and at its widest just 400m wide, seperates the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea. A thriving holiday resort has quite literally sprung up on this sliver of land between 2 seas.

There are several other small Spanish towns, in the area, which have developed into charming holiday resorts. These include:

• Lo Pagan
• San Javier (a mile inland)

All these towns have a good choice of shops, restaurants and bars.

For the golfing enthusiasts there are number of championship standard courses within a 15 minute drive including:

Murcia (San Javier) airport is conveniently situated just 5 mins drive away (the apartment is not on the flight path therefore noise is minimal). The airport is well served by several low cost airlines including Jet2.com, Ryanair, Flybe, Easyjet, BMIbaby and Flymonarch, from many UK airports.
 

If you get bored with relaxing by the pool or sunning your self on the glorious Mar Menor beaches then there are plenty of other attractions. Here are just a few:

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
