Almerimar apartment to rent details
The Apartment
We bought our apartment so we could enjoy the warmth and relaxing atmosphere of Spain. Currently we are only using it for holidays so we are letting it so others can enjoy the area too.
Almerimar is the nearest thing to a perfect town. It is quiet but has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. Even several clubs. Everything is close by and walkable. But if you want to travel further afield e.g. Granada or Sierra Navada Mountains the roads are excellent.
We take advantage of cheap flights and to minimise on luggage charges, we have fully fitted and equipped the apartment so it contains everything we and you should need. There is even a cot/playpen if required.
There is a car space in the secure underground garage with lift to the apartment
The 2 double-bed apartment, which is fully air conditioned, can accommodate 6. Double bed in Terrace Bedroom, 2 full-size singles which can be converted to a double in Main bedroom (and 2 sofa chairs in lounge which convert to full-size singles). Both bedrooms have large wardrobes. There is a large separate kitchen and utility and bathroom with bath and shower, toilet, bidet and sink.
The lounge is well furnished with sofa, sofa chairs, coffee tables, TV/DVD etc and an extending table to seat 6 if you wish to eat indoors.
The lounge leads onto the terrace, with a patio dining table and small coffee table normally left outside the Terrace Bedroom. Two aluminum sun beds and collapsible loungers are provided and these together with a large parasol can also be taken to the beach if required.
The terrace makes an ideal place to eat in the evenings and has a wonderful view. There is a fan for particularly warm evenings.
The apartment overlooks the National Park and is 5 minutes walk to the beach. You can also take the car to the beach and drive into the National Park area, or go to the more commercial beach where there are bars and restaurants.
Within the apartment complex there is a children's play area and a large swimming pool for the use of residents and visitors during the summer holidays. When open, life-guards are on duty.
The town centre and marina is a 15 minutes stroll and there you will find an abundance of cafe-bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. There is an excellent supermarket and even an English grocery shop for those particular English favourites.

The complex in addition to its own swimming pool, and children's play area, has a jogging track, 5-a-side football pitch and tennis courts which should be completed by 2008
The beach is split by the Marina. The western beach 5 minutes walk from the apartment comprises the "commercial beach" (walk down to the sea and turn right either along the promenade or beach until you come to the Marina and town square) or turn left and walk eastwards - this part of the beach is part of the Natural Park and continues to Roquetus de Mer the next town up the coast - some few hours walk! Some people take cars into the National Park and there are some tracks that can be used. However beware if there has been rain and don't go onto loose sand or you may well get stuck . If you like the idea of exploring by car we suggest a 4x4. About 20 minutes walk along the beach you can head inland to see the flamingos. Alternatively just walk through the park either following the paths or cutting across country. If you are taking a dog this is excellent dog walking country.
Within the National Park there are no bars or cafes so you may need a picnic - otherwise turn right and head for the Marina and enjoy a drink or meal at one of the beach restaurants or those around the Marina or in the square.
The beach then runs on eastward where you will find more water sports activity during the summer.
Eating Out There are many different restaurants around the marina to suite all pallets and prices are reasonable - whatever you would pay in GBP in UK you will pay the same number of Euros. This is Spanish town so there is a lot of families eating out and some restaurants don't get started until 8pm. There are also some takeaways.
Night Clubs are located on the eastern side of the town a walk of 20-30 minutes from the apartment
Golf clubs abound in this area and day tickets are easily available; there are several courses in Almerimar itself.
Water Park in Roquetas de la Mer is open during the summer
Spaghetti Westerns: enjoy a day out re-living the the Cowboy Movies - drive north and see the actual movie sets that were used. A good day out.
Skiing or just enjoy the Sierra Nevada Mountains
Enjoy driving? There are a number of day routes that will take you to see some of the interesting features of the area

Horse Riding stables are close at the edge of the National Park

Getting there
The quickest and easiest way is to fly to Almeria Airport, hire a car and drive to the apartment. That said we drove down though France this year and took our dog. We made the drive down part of the holiday. We have also flown from and to different airports with different airlines and hired our car from different firms. Hopefully the information below will help you plan your trip.

Access to the apartment is via lift from all levels. The surrounding area is relatively flat allowing access to the town centre, marina and beach. There is a slight incline from beach level to complex and from the complex entrance to the apartment entrance. This is unlikely to be a problem for a motorised wheelchair or if the carer is able-bodied. Easiest access is via car using garage entrance with 5yd walk to lift. The apartment bathroom is not suitable for wheelchair entry, and there is a 6" step when accessing the terrace and terrace bedroom.
