Around the apartment
Situated just seven minutes in the Estapona direction from prestigious Puerto Banus, near Marbella, Costa Del Sol, Spain, El Presidente is a beach front very quiet estate of white luxury apartments and villas in the ornate Moorish Andalucian style, well away from main roads and set in exceptional park-like tropical grounds of palm trees and lawns with five pools, two heated in cooler seasons.
The estate is based on the famous Alhambra gardens in Grenada, with many reflecting pools and fountains. Each area of the complex of apartments and villas is served by it’s own garden and smaller swimming pool (four in total, two heated in Winter) plus there is a magnificent one acre main swimming pool in free form shape, set in lawns with an island and bridge in the middle. All pool areas are supplied with lounges.
There are four tennis courts, five paddle (short) tennis courts, and for golfers, a practice driving range set in the woods beside the apartment. Owners Direct Ltd will supply a key to courts, if there is not one in the dresser drawer.
You will find the nearby Roberto’s Beach a short walk down the road beside the apartment building. Here you will find sun lounges available, with nearby activities including water-sports. For children there are also lovely play areas with swings, slides, see-saws and climbing-frames, plus a football pitch!
We will leave you to find the paths through the lovely unspoilt woodland and sand dunes beside the beach.
Along the beach beside the El Presidente complex are three of our local chiringuitos (beach bar /restaurants), “Roberto’s”, “Pepe's” and “Matas Verdes”, open for lunchtime and evening (in the summer) drinks and meals - truly wonderful places to relax, sit and gaze out to the sea, often with a glimpse of Gibraltar and Morocco. You will find rubbish bins on the roadside close to the apartment, which are emptied daily.
If you take the road opposite our apartment then turn right, you will go around the tennis courts and turn left, and you will find Andalucia Car Rental plus many restaurants within walking distance (Thai, Chinese, Spanish and English) along that side of the main road, including the Robin Hood pub. There is also a very small supermarket for fresh bread and basic stuff, a hairdresser, money machine and telephone box.
There are two much bigger supermarkets on the other side of the main road towards Estapona called “Mercado” and “Supersol” (Supersol is the best) but we prefer to shop at the incredible El Cortes Inglis department store, beside the main road in Puerto Banus- we feel that the supermarket they have is the best we have found worldwide.
Around the area
The Marbella region of Andalucia’s Costa del Sol is centered around the town of Marbella and it’s main port, Puerto Banus, and is renowned as a particularly prestigious resort area on the coast between the mountains and the beautiful beaches in the southern-most part of Spain.
Close by the beach are expensive developments of villas and apartments, while the valleys running up to the mountains are filled with beautiful golf courses.
There are over 30 golf courses in the nearby area, one of them just five minutes away, and several tennis ranches in the valleys. Ask us about up to 30% discounted green fees at the famous 27 hole La Quinta golf course, and other golf course discounts. (Owners Direct Ltd have details and can make tee off time bookings for you in advance) Ask us for more golf information.
Marbella town itself has often been described as the St Tropez of Spain, and has a historical centre of quaint little lanes and shady marble paved squares full of pavement cafes, as well as exceptional shopping, and with all major designers well represented. Above the beautiful sandy beach, the promenade here is the place to see and be seen.
Ten minutes by car from the apartment, Puerto Banus is based around a harbour full of the world’s most exotic yachts, and the waterfront is lined with lively restaurants and bars where you can often spot the rich and famous who holiday in this area. The town is renowned for it’s nightlife, and you can even do your shopping up to 2am!
Day Trips
Within day trip range are Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Malaga and Nerja, and with an overnight stay, even winter skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains. A 45 minute drive and an hour on the ferry even takes you to Morocco’s Tangier in North Africa!
Have a drink or a meal in these places:
Anywhere on the Puerto Banus marina waterfront, and watch the millionaires plus their yachts and cars. Antonio’s is a favourite, but expensive.
Go to La Pesquera in the fountain square in Marbella old town, for the wonderful bar tapas.
Visit: Mijas, a wonderful hill town. (¾ hour), Rhonda, for the lovely town and the drive. (3/4 hour), and Estapona, for the harbour, old town and lovely beach. (20 mins).
Go to Granada to see the Alhambra Palace, but book by phone as soon as possible. (2 hours)
Visit Gibraltar to see the apes on the mountain. (30 minutes)
and If you have time, Seville, Jerez and Cordoba (each about 1.5 to 2 hours) are well worth a visit also.
Being as far south as you can get in mainland Europe and so close to North Africa, the weather is reliably rain free and very hot in summer, and most people say that the shoulder seasons, being a little cooler and thus more comfortable, are especially nice- and travel to the area (and golf) is particularly popular at these times.

Marbella to Gibraltar Self catering rental reviews
sarah says: "We were pleasently suprised to walk in and find such a nice appartment, modern, cosy, well decorated, nice and spaceous. The grounds were kept immaculate, but the only downside was that a dog had messed on the grass just outside our appartment and it literally sat there for the whole week, not a pleasent sight to look at each time we left the appartment, even though the gardeners had come round and cut the grass, it still sat there. But overall a lovely place to stay in and i would definately recommend to friends and family."
