Situated in the beautiful Poqueira Gorge, the hillside village of Pampaneira is a place of historical interest dating back to Moorish times. This traditional stone built village house has been sympathetically refurbished but retains many of its original features. Sited in a quiet alley at the top of the village, the property offers great views of the surrounding mountains and the distant sea - you may even catch a glimpse of the shimmering mountains of north Africa during clear weather. With some of the cleanest air in Europe and a wealth a walking, bird watching and dining possibilities, the Alpujarras enchant and inspire the visitor. 

Banks, shops, internet cafes and information centres are all either available in Pampaneira or nearby Bubion. Numerous companies exist locally that provide activities ranging from guided walks and wine tasting to extreme mountain biking and paragliding. At least two companies provide horse trekking. Swimming is possible during summer months at some nearby natural pools by the river and the village hosts several fiestas at different times throughout the year. The Tibetan Buddhist centre of O Sel Ling (meaning place of clear light) standing on the hill opposite the village welcomes visitors every day after 3pm. To gain an insight into life in the Alpujarras read 'South From Granada' by Gerald Brenan or 'Driving Over Lemons' by Chris Stewart or read the local newspaper The Olive Press. 

With the nearby summit of Veleta visible from the terrace (snow capped in winter) skiing remains a tantalising possibility. The ski resort of Sierra Nevada is accessible via Granada and it takes about an hour and a half to reach by car. At the resort there are a variety of runs as well as numerous restaurants and even a husky sledging tour.

This makes Pampaneira an ideal base from which to spend a day or two on the slopes as part of a more varied holiday.

Pampaneira village centre, with its dozen or so bars and restaurants, is a five minute walk away. All of the other villages in the Alpujarras are within easy striking distance by car and the beautiful and historic city of Granada is only an hour away.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
