Kate’s is a traditional Irish cottage that has been extended and refurbished to provide a very comfortable and relaxing holiday home. The kitchen, dining and sitting rooms formed the original 150 year old cottage. Beautiful oak furniture and Lloyd Loom seating with beamed ceilings and wooden flooring. The extension to the cottage offers a bathroom with bath and separate shower. The main bedroom has a luxury king size bed with double wardrobe and dressing table. The second bedroom has twin beds with a double wardrobe. Set in a large private garden with a stream running through attracting plenty of wildlife. The property is surrounded by fields and offers wonderful views of the Knockmealdown mountains. A garden table and chairs are provided. 

Kate’s is situated only 3 miles from the historic and award winning town of Lismore, the Irish home of the Dukes of Devonshire. The delightful Lismore Castle Gardens are open for viewing in the summer. Literary and music festivals are held in the town throughout the year. There are a variety of places to eat and drink from traditional Irish pubs, such as The Castle Lodge, Foleys on the Mall and Eamonns Bar with its delightful walled garden. The Summerhouse Café offers own daily baked cakes and light meals. For special occasions, nearby Ballyvolane and Richmond House provide elegant dining in a country house setting. The award winning Tannery Restaurant in Dungarvan and Aherne’s Seafood Bar/Restaurant in Youghal offer great local dishes. Try the seafood chowder – delicious!

 

Salmon and trout fishing are available on the Blackwater River only 10 minutes away. Lismore Golf Club is a delightful 9 hole course. Nearby Fermoy and Dungarvan offer challenging 18 holes. There are several signed walks in and around Lismore. Horse riding is available 20 minutes from the cottage. Long golden sandy beaches at the historic town of Youghal are only 30 minutes away along the scenic drive from the cottage. For serious shoppers, Cork City is only one hour away – a visit to the famous English Market is a must! Ballymaloe Cookery School and Gardens are 40 minutes away with the Shanagarry Pottery close by making this a delightful trip. 

Salmon fishing is available locally. Bookings and equipment can be arranged.

The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin. . This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The cottage has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The cottage has television satellite/cable. The music system will play radio.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The cottage is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has a garden, panoramic views, interesting views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The cottage is right beside walking.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find a beach, swimming, sailing, boat hire, horse riding.

Tony says: "Kates Cottage is a charming little place! We were looking for a quiet cottage, in the countryside but within easy reach of plenty of places to visit. Thats what we got. Our two young children (6 and 2) were able to run around the garden and catch mini-beasts in the stream, and on the rare occasions when we were confined indoors the satellite television kept them amused. Cork, Waterford, Cashel, Blarney, Cobh, Kinsale, Youghal...all within easy reach. The cottage provided plenty of space for the whole family - sleeping, eating and living. In summary - Id highly recommend Kates Cottage. As a final point: We have rented holiday cottages in a number of places, and have never had such a friendly and welcoming service from the owners of a property. Thanks!"
