A quiet little village Keratokambos, situated next to the sea on the south east coast . This small resort that has long been enjoyed by the locals from the north and mainland greece. The last few years have also attracted visitors from further a field who have begun to discover and enjoy the tranquility and real village atmosphere of this place.
The weather is always better than the commerial "north side" the mountains keeping the weather from north europe at bay so it a guarntees sun filled holiday. Now with a new Road from heraklion reaching half the way access is quicker and easier. 

No other Greek or Mediterranean island has such a combination of landscapes, the distinctive character of the Islanders and impressive archaeological remains from different periods of Crete’s history: Minoan palaces, Byzantine churches, Venetian castles and Turkish minarets and many roman ruins still there to be explored.

The Ida mountain Mountains’ that dominate the mid area give the region its wealth of fertile lands, fed by the melting snows high above. Visit any time up until May and the mountains really are covered with the most beautiful snow caps.

It would be difficult to miss the chance to discover at least some of Crete’s unique treasures. Hiring a car is therefore recommended, whether to visit the Minoan palace at Knossos, or the fascinating old towns of central and eastern Crete.

Crete also offers a great variety of family activities for all ages and is the perfect place to unwind, whether relaxing on your terrace with a cold beer or out walking in the gorges amid the spring flowers.

 

In Southern Crete you can still see a traditional lifestyle of shepherds, olive growers, beekeepers, vineyards, fishing boats. Villages celebrate feast days and name days with delightful festivals and welcome visitors to join them in their meals, dancing and drinking. Greek Orthodox Easter is the best-known festival and should not be missed if visiting during early May.

Through picturesque scenery of pretty hillside villages, whitewashed churches and olive groves. 'Life' in Keratokambos centres around the
one 'main' street which lines the long sand and shingle beach where you can find a local supermarket, cafés, and a handful of taverns, ensuring you don't need to go far to experience real Cretan cooking and hospitality at its best. 10 minutes east and you are at the seaside village of Toutourous which boasts a beautiful beach, also in only 1 hour you reach the capital of the south of Crete, Ierapetra the south’s city since Minoan times still having a Venetian harbour castle and a large modern shopping centre, harbour bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Many other places are within easy reach and can be found on a car hire map, normally provided.

 

Air conditioning is only in the Main bedroom. Not the gallery twin bedroom where a fan is available. The pool has been completed and the area around the pool now linked to the house by paving. Satelitte is basic mainly european channels ( no Sky or similar ) and DVDs are not supplied. We feel more than normal utensils and items are provided to make your stay more home from home. infant under 4 can be additional to 4 people

The villa comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. . This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the villa cool.

The villa has television dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has a private south facing swimming pool, a garden, a south facing patio area, sea views, panoramic views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find historic sites, shopping areas.

Rachel says: "We have just returned from a wonderful, relaxing two weeks at the Stonehouse. The propery itself exceeded expectations - the photos on the website really do not it justice. The interior is spacious and well equiped. The exterior is ghe real bonus. the patio at the front of the property has spectacular views to the sea and surrounding hillside. A perfect spot for meals and evening relaxing. The pool at the rear of the property is a real sun spot and completely private. The location is perfect if you are looking for total peace and relaxation. The local village has a good selec tion of tavernas and we found the locals very friendly and welcoming. The beaches are stunning, ranging from long shingle beaches to deserted coves - all within a few minutes drive. The villa owners were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we required. Our only regret is that we didnt rent the owners other villa too and take the rest of the family. We will certainly do this when we return."
