Paradise Gardens 3
Steve and Frances welcome you to our home in Cyprus. Having been unable to take holidays (due to business commitments) for a number of years, we were given the use of a friends apartment for a week on Paradise 1. We enjoyed the island so much that we splashed out and bought our own place and we are sure you will fall in love with the country and the people, as we did.

We have had our place now for about two years now and have had really positive feedback from all our guests. The Paradise 3 complex is a mix of traditional styled townhouses and apartments, all with balconies, surrounding beautiful landscaped gardens and a magnificent pool surrounded by palm trees. At one end of the pool are well maintained underground showers, toilets and changing rooms.

Our very private, beautifully furnished light and airy apartment overlooks the landscaped gardens and pool which is illuminated at night providing a magical atmosphere. On the few occasions you might like to eat in the lounge, a folding table and chairs have been provided. However you will probably find yourselves enjoying the view from the balcony on those relaxing twilight evenings with one or even two glasses of wine.. The balcony has a ceiling light and fan. Table and chairs are provided for four.

All the windows are fitted with shutters.

There are a number of DVD's for you to watch if you feel like a relaxing evening in.

For your comfort , every room is fitted with remote control air conditioning/ heating units and ceiling fans. Sunbeds are provided around the pool for residents but the apartment has its own, should they be needed, together with a parasol.

A number of books have been left for your use during those lazy hours sunbathing around the pool.

A car is not an absolute necessity as you are within walking distance of shops, beaches, restaurants, night life and traditional tavernas. Something to suit all tastes.

For added security a safe is at your disposal..

This is a non- smoking apartment and is not suitable for children under 7.
Cyprus and Paphos
The former ancient capital of Cyprus, Paphos, successfully blends ancient and modern. Paphos combines ancient history with a cosmolpolitan, modern tourist resort., The area by the coast is known as Kato Paphos and boasts a pretty little harbour and plenty of open air cafes and bars. Further inland is the old town of Paphos, known by the locals as Ktima. With it 's narrow streets, hustle and bustle, covered market and typical Cypriot atmosphere, it is well worth a visit. As a consequence Paphos is on UNESCO'S World Cultural Heritage list. It attracts a mxture of clientele, but is especially popular with families and "culture vultures"! The very name Cyprus, it has been said, shimmers with and age old mystique. Today history and hedonism are comfortably intertwined on the island. Ravaging five star resorts within walking distance of well preserved Greek and roman ruins offer every amenity the modern traveller has come to expect, and more. From knock-out pools, gardens and beach fronts to state of the art health spas.
Venture away from the shore and succumb to the slow, seductive rhtyms of the interior of the island. There are old wine producing villages with atmospheric winding streets and terraced vineyards.

Near the harbour at Paphos, are the roman floor mosaics of the Houses of Aion, Achilles and Dionysus, their depictions of mythological scene amazingly well preserved.

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and an ideal starting point for the discovery of other exotic locales, such as the Greek Islands, Egypt and the Middle East - in fact many cruises set off for these places from Cyprus almost every day.

Attractions
There are so many places to visit they are too numerous to mention them all. However, the following are the ones which we have experienced and recommend.

The Troodos mountains are well worth a day out. There are many tours to the Kykkos monastery if you don't want to take the car. Magnificent frescos - the gold interior of the monastery is out of this world . Please note you will need to cover up before you can go inside,no shorts or bare arms (don't make the mistake that we did and had to hire some trousers from one of the shops). The coach tour will also take you to Makarious's tomb guarded by soldiers. The scenery in Troodos is magnificent - well worth a day out. On the way down a stop at Omodos (tourist village) is recommended for that odd gift.

Another trip well worth a visit is the Akamas Peninsula far west of Cyprus. The area is of outstanding beauty deep gorges and wild lansdcapes. Home to 530 plant species, a third of the total in Cyprus. An unspoilt wild place thanks to is inacessibility.

Should you be there from 11am onwards try a visit to the Last Castle for a bite of lunch under the grape vines. No menu ,just charcoaled chicken or pork at approx £5 per head. Breathtaking views of the whole bay can be experienced. This is a must . It would be advisable to book as a lot of Cypriot families use the establishment, particularly at the weekend..

Further along is Lara Bay an important turtle breeding site. Home to two endangered turtle species - green turtle and hawks-bill turtle.

If you venture towards Polis where there is s sandy beach should you wish to stop, go further along this coast road towards Pomos, where you will come across some wonderful fish tavernas, and small fishing harbours .Continue along this road and you will find the church of St Raphael. The church interior is very ornate and the ceilings and walls are covered with frescoes. the interior of which is magnificent built by a monk we are told. Another lovely day out.

Coral Bay is one of the better sandy beaches suitable for children, where most watersports are available. You can takea bus ride from the town which is very enjoyable and gives you time to take in some of the stunning scenery.

It would also be worth booking one of the Greek dance evening which many of the restaurants offer , suitable for the whole family.

Another cheap and cheerful meal is fish and chips at Moulia restaurant. We have never tasted fish and chips like it. We only ever eat it now when we are in Cyprus.

English is taught at all schools and driving is on the left-hand side. You will feel very much at home.

The Cypriot people are very friendly and will want to know all about you. We are sure you will have a fantastic time and will want to come back time and time again.
