Situated in the attractive University area of Edinburgh, Causewayside is full of interesting shops, from antique shops, designer boutiques, furniture and lighting shops to delis and wine merchants. Perfect for investigating on a stroll into the city centre (around a 35 minute walk minus any detours into shops!) There are also many restaurants on Causewayside or slightly further into town along Buccleuch Street and Potterow. These range from bistros to more traditional French/Scottish food to a lovely Thai and a nice Indian restaurant. For drinks, next door to the flat is a great local pub, The Old Bell (above which there is a restaurant), and there are many more pubs within a short walk of the flat. Nearer the University Campus on George Square you will come across cocktail bars some of which have DJs playing in the evening. For those self-catering there is a Tesco a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. There are also take-aways a phone call away.
 

Edinburgh has a range of attractions on offer, many of which are easily accessible from the flat on about a 15 minute bus ride. Examples are city centre historical attractions Edinburgh Castle and The Royal Mile and major art galleries found on The Mound and Queen Street. The National Museum of Scotland on Chamber Street is about 10 minutes by bus. The Royal Yacht Britannia, berthed in Leith is reached by getting the No. 22 bus from Princes Street. A famous Edinburgh landmark is Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano. It is the ideal place to go for a walk and get spectacular views of the city. Holyrood Palace and the New Scottish Parliament are next to Arthur's Seat. All are a short bus ride (No. 3) from Princes Street or about a 35 minute walk from the flat.

Cathy says: "We just returned from our vacation to England, Scotland, France and Italy. While away we stayed at five different self catering accomodations. My entire family agrees (6 of us) that the Causwayside was the best of all of them. The apartment was clean, newly renovated, warm and welcoming. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. The fresh flowers and fruit we received on our arrival made for a warm welcome and the specialty bars of soap and lotions in the bathroom gave a pampered feel to the place. It was easy to get to by public transit (however the bus line 42 schedule is a bit long between buses but that is not the reponsibility of the apartment owner) and if necessary, it can be walked from downtown. This apartment is perfect for a family of 4 but our family of six was comfortable in the space making use of the pull out sofa bed. After being in many other places, this was great value for the money and our only regret was that we didn't spend mor time here. We would definitely go back and recommend to our friends."
