Church Races is newly renovated in a contemporary, relaxed 'beach house' style. It is bright and airy and has spectacular sea views from the lounge, main bedroom and front deck. Sunsets are unmissable - enjoy from the deck or lounge with a large glass of wine!

We are right on the South West coast path and close to a sandy surfing beach, so ideally located for a beach/surfing or walking holiday.

The property sleeps a maximum 4 adults in 2 double bedrooms (although an extra child can be accommodated in the 2nd bedroom) and is best suited to a family or one/two couple(s).

Rooms as follows:

Main bedroom: kingsize four-poster bed, painted wooden floors, door to deck and front garden, sea view.

2nd bedroom: double bed and child’s bed (150 cm long), tiled floor, garden view.

Bathroom: bath with electric shower over, basin, WC.

Kitchen: This is open-plan to the lounge/dining room and fully equipped with electric hob, double oven, microwave, fridge /freezer, dishwasher etc.

Lounge/ dining room: Sofa and low seating for 4 adults; LCD TV with Freeview; DVD player; CD player with ‘music port’ (for MP3/iPod connection). Dining table and chairs. Painted wooden floors. Patio doors to large west-facing deck. Sea views!

Other: Laundry with washing machine. Entrance hall with space for boots, coats. Back patio with hanging space for wetsuits. Grass area (south facing) with picnic table and barbecue. Front deck (west facing) with spectacular views and seating.

Cleaning/Linen: Linen and bath towels are included – not beach towels. The property is cleaned before arrival although additional cleaning or a cook can be arranged at additional cost.

Garden /Outside space

The front garden faces the sea and consists of a large wooden deck, pebbles and grasses (designed to look like a pebble beach!). Being west-facing, this area gets the sun from late morning onwards. There is a 4-seater bench for seating. Being only a short distance from the cliff, the view is spectacular, with amazing sunsets. There is a road in front of the property, which generates some traffic noise and makes the front deck and garden (which is not fully enclosed) unsuitable for very young children. Additional folding chairs are available for outdoor use.

The back has a small grass area with barbecue and picnic table. It adjoins the garden of the Annex, and has a distant view towards farmland and countryside. This area gets the sun for most of the day. A parasol is provided. This area is also not fully enclosed (i.e. there is no fence between it and the neighbouring farmland).
 

Church Races is just metres from the South West coast path, offering an unrivalled opportunity to walk North or South along the cliffs and explore the stunning North Cornwall coast. It also has direct access to country walks heading inland across farmland to the Bude canal and beyond.

Beaches

Some great beaches nearby (2 minute drive or 20 minute walk away): 2 family surf beaches with surf hire and summer life guards at Widemouth Bay; and several beaches and a sea water swimming pool at Bude. Many other wonderful beaches further afield.

Further details

Other than Widemouth Bay’s magnificent beach, it has 2 beach café’s, a great local pub with restaurant, garden and sea views; and a Post Office/local shop selling freshly caught fish, crab and lobster. There is also a restaurant with a growing reputation situated a short walk from Church Races (5 min. along the coast path).

Bude is an attractive Cornish seaside town with a harbour and canal, a few café’s/restaurants (one in particular which we highly recommend), some good local produce suppliers (including organic) and 3 major supermarkets. There are 1 or 2 decent boutiques/clothes stores, several good ‘serious’ surf equipment suppliers and plenty of ‘bucket-and-spade’ type shops selling inexpensive beach/surf gear.
 

1. Church Races is designed for one family or 1 - 2 couples. The garden/grounds are not fully enclosed and there is a road in front of the property, so the property is not really suitable for very young children. Babies and older children are welcome.

2. Although the property is on one level, due to 3 fairly steep steps at the front door, narrow doorways and uneven ground in the garden, it is not wheelchair friendly.

3. A self-contained Annex adjoins Church Races. It is occasionally occupied by the owners when they visit. The Annex has a separate parking area, entrance and garden, ensuring that your privacy will not be affected.
 

This bright and airy cottage is newly renovated and decorated in a contemporary style. It comes fully equipped with all mod cons and all bedding and linen is provided (beach towels not included). Please NOTE: like with all recent renovations, there are a still a few 'rough edges' (in particular, the water pressure in the shower is not great, so if that’s a deal-breaker for you, look away now.…!). However, if you want stylish seaside accommodation in an unbeatable location, this one’s for you. The price has been adjusted accordingly, and we are confident that you will love staying here - we do!

The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 2 double. . This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The cottage has 1 bathrooms for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The cottage has television dvd. The music system will play cds.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The location of the cottage means you will hear some noise, though not excessive. It has a south facing garden, a west facing patio area, sea views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking.

The cottage is right beside walking.

Close to the cottage you will find a beach, swimming, fishing, horse riding, golf, tennis, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find sailing, boat hire, wind surfing.

The local store is 2 min. drive /20 min. walk away and sells local produce, fresh fish etc.
