This extremely spacious house is situated in a picturesque village in the heart of Bulgaria with excellent links to the towns of Dryanovo (15 minutes), Sevlievo (15 minutes), Gabrovo (20 minutes) and Veliko Tarnovo (35 minutes). Renovated and furnished to a high standard with solid fuel central heating and satellite TV, the accommodation consists of a large fitted kitchen with fireplace and breakfast table, steps leading down to traditional tavern dining-room with beamed ceiling; bathroom, landing and three good-sized bedrooms, one with double bed, the others with three-quarter beds; while upstairs the top floor of the house has been converted into a fabulous, enormous living room with wood burning stove, additional dining area, lounge/TV area and a picture window with stunning mountain views. The area is perfect for tourism, house-hunting, all kinds of outdoor pursuits or just for a quiet, relaxing holiday at any time of year. The village has a shop and bar which open 7 days a week, and is a very friendly place where visitors are always made to feel welcome. 

We strongly recommend hiring a car so that you can make the most of your stay, as Bulgaria's historic heartland offers something to suit almost every taste. King among its famous and culturally vibrant old towns is certainly Veliko Tarnovo, the medieval capital which hangs precipitously on rock faces above the River Yantra. A day out in VT is an absolute must: explore cobbled streets and lanes, marvel at the gorgeous Bulgarian revival architecture, monuments, churches, craft workshops and house mueseums, take a stroll around the Tsarevets fortress and enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of many traditional restaurants. 

The Central Balkan Range offers an exquisite, dramatic and ever-changing landscape that is peppered with a myriad of small villages and hamlets where deep-rooted rural traditions and lifestyles live on. New Tuscany House is located in one such village, so do not be surprised if your progress in your hire car is occasionally held up by a large herd of goats being taken out to graze -- or why not pull on your walking boots, step out of the house, stride up the lane and within a couple of minutes be up in the pastures yourself amidst truly breathtaking scenery! Visible from the outskirts of the village on a clear day is the Shipka Pass, scene of a famous military struggle as Bulgarian and Russian armies fought for Bulgaria's freedom from the Turkish empire in the 19th century. The churches and monuments of Shipka are about an hour's drive away. Historic villages with architectural reserve status are within easy reach (Bozhentsi - 30 minutes; Arbanasi - 40 minutes), and several monasteries that have played a key roll in preserving Bulgarian culture over the centuries are also close by, including the splendid Dryanovo Monastery, just 15 minutes away. Meanwhile the towns of Tryavna, Gabrovo (including the fascinating ethnographic complex of Etara), Sevlievo (along with the ancient ruined settlement of Hotalich), Lovech, Troyan (with its magnificent monastery) and Elena are all easily accessible and well worth visiting. 

The central heating is a recently installed system fuelled from a beuatiful solid-fuel burner located in the kitchen. Guidance on how to get the best out of the central heating will be given on arrival, and of course wood and coal are provided by the owners. Upstairs in the living room there is an additional, free-standing wood burner which is independent of the central heating system. This is an excellent option for Spring and Autumn evenings when it is often not necessary to put the heating on for the whole house. The hot water boiler is on a dual system, so that when the central heating is not in use the water can be heated up electrically.

The village house comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 3 double and 1 cots. . This gives room for up to 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.
