Our brand new luxury villa is set in 500m of terraced forest land and has a private pool 12m x 5m. The panoramic views from the garden and large terrace across the valley floor onto the mountians, are stunning. From the garden, the ancient Lycian ruins at Tlos can be easily seen.

The ground floor is open-plan with large glass double doors and full length windows making the most of the amazing views. The large sitting room has a double sofa bed as well as additional seating. A Playstation2 is also provided. The dining area has seating for up to 8 people and opens out onto a large terrace should you wish to have a BBQ or eat outside. This is a mosquito-free area and so al fresco evenings are lovely. An open fire place is found in the Turkish snug which also has traditional cushioned seating seating. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, downstairs shower room and a utility room. The wooden staircase takes you upstairs to a large upstairs sitting area with 2 comfy rocking chairs. The panoramic views through the full-length windows here are breath-taking. Off this sitting room there are 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite shower room. Both have full length windows to take full advantage of the views and also open onto the upstairs balcony. There is a third bedroom with twin beds and another shower room leading from the upstairs sitting area.

 

Our villa is in a very quiet location, with uninterrupted views of the valley to the front and mountains to the sides. The site also backs onto protected forest land ideal for walks and picnics.

Authentic Turkish village life can be experienced firsthand in Kadikoy village just 2 minutes drive away. There, supplies can be purchased in the local shops or even delivered to your villa. Maryanne, our local rep (City & Guilds trained) will also deliver home-cooked Turkish or English food to your door. Why not have it ready and waiting for you when you arrive at our villa - it can be booked on-line before you have even left home!

At the traditional Turkish roadside Locantas, you can watch the locals as they prepare your food - trout, BBQ meat or the wonderful vegetarian Turkish meze starters.

The immediate area around the villa is perfect for exploring, walking, climbing and bird and wildlife watching whatever your level of fitness and experience.

Saklikent Gorge - This is the second largest gorge in Europe and only 5 minutes drive from our villa. It is 20km long and there are suspended walkways that let you walk for miles along it. There are many walking trails here of various difficulties. Alternatively you can sit in one of the traditional Turkish lounges which are suspended 0.5m above the ice-cold running waters and shaded by fig trees while eating the freshly caught trout which they serve. For the more adventurous, there is white water rafting and mud baths! A great treat for the kids is staying in one of the tree houses which you can hire for the night (9 pounds per person per night for dinner, bed and breakfast at current rates). Again, this can be booked through us prior to your leaving home or arranged once you arrive at Villa Carreta.

Tlos (10 minutes away)- This is probably the oldest city in Lycia. Parts of the ancient Lycian citadel can be seen on the acropolis hill, along with the ruins of a Byzantine fortress, numerous rock-strewn tombs, a Roman stadium, amphitheatre and baths. This site is easily seen from our garden and vice versa!

Just past Tlos and just 15 minutes away from Villa Carreta, are the local trout farms where lunch is served in traditional turkish seating areas underneath huge, old trees. The Yakapark farm is a superb place to spend a hot afternoon. The many running streams that run through it provide natural air conditioning, and keep the area cool, no matter how hot the weather is.

Our local 'Mountain Lodge' bar is a 10 minute drive away and does lovely food in a wonderful setting with a pool and play area for the kids.

 

Patara (45 minutes) - This was the port of Xanthus and is now an important archaeological site and protected area. Patara beach is a white sand beach with dunes and has been recently voted the best beach in the world by 'The Sunday Times'. Our kids (and us) adore this beach - the waves are great fun for jumping over and you can even body-surf here. It is a huge expanse of sand, surrounded by mountains with one lovely beach bar.

Kalkan is 10 minutes further on from Patara and makes a great full day trip out from Villa Carreta. This gorgeous seaside town has a beautiful bay and a wonderful old centre with winding cobbled streets and many fascinating shops selling carpets, jewellery, tiles etc. I can spend many a happy hour (and quite a lot of money) wandering around here!

Fethiye (40 minutes away) - This is a busy fishing town with a wonderful fish market, Turkish baths, traditional rug and kilm shops, marina with boat trips out to the islands in the bay. Lycian tombs are carved into the cliff face behind the town.

Pinara (30 miles) - This is the most spectacular of all the ancient cities in Lycia. The pinkish rock face is full of tombs unfortunately inaccessible to everyone but experienced climbers.

Villa Carreta takes its name from from the Turkish word for the turtles which swim in the stream below our garden. There is a large private pool to relax in while you take in the breath-taking views. If you choose the transfer, you will be picked up in a private taxi. On your arrival, you will be met by our local rep who will give you the keys and answer any questions you may have and help to make your holiday extra special. Throughout the remainder of the holiday, a 24 hour emergency service is available.

The villa comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the Sitting room. This gives room for up to 8 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 3 bathrooms and 3 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the villa cool.

The villa has television dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds.

There is room for 8 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.
