You can move about the resort freely and easily by foot, there are numerous path ways, but there is also a MINI BUS service which zooms around the resort at regular intervals, in case you get tired by the climbing up and walking down in the heat. The bus is free of charge.
The Patara Prince is a truly remarkable place, a holiday destination in its own right. Nestled on a 60 acre secluded sea front estate along Kalkan Bay on the Southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, it is more like a town than a hotel resort, a community which gives you the freedom to mingle with others or to relax by yourself.
Club Patara is romantically styled on a Roman town. It is visually stunning, from stone arches to marble-floored fountains and original rock features, it's like stepping backwards in time.
There are four swimming pools within Club Patara. An indoor pool and Jacuzzi forms part of the fitness centre, which also has a gymnasium, sauna, Turkish bath, massage centre and hairdressers.
Near the outdoor swimming pools you will find the main, a la carte restaurant and Patara bar which overlooks the entire bay. A fine Turkish dining experience awaits you with a wonderful open air section, right at the water's edge beneath a charming thatched roof. There is also an Italian Restaurant, if pizzas are your taste. Or why not try the lunchtime poolside barbecue, or sample various international cuisines from one of the buffet nights.
There is also a piano bar poolside and the quaint Agora bar in the hotel (left) courtyard. The resort even boasts a mini nightclub with resident DJ. Throw in a well stocked shop with everything for your everyday needs for good measure.
For the adventurous at heart there are a number of water sporting activities available, such as Jet Skiing, Rings, Scuba Diving, Snorkelling, Boat trips and more. There is also a tennis court, volley ball net, table tennis and snooker table. And if you really fancy an adrenaline rush, why not try a paraglide off the top of the mountain.
Even with all this at your fingertips, should you fancy a change, a water taxi service right from the resort platform, will take you into Kalkan Town. Here you will find many restaurants, bars, markets, shops, cafes and a few nightclubs too. There is also an abundance of road taxis at your disposal.
Or why not spend the day on Patara beach. 22km of pure white sand stretches as far as the eye can see, making it a natural choice for all types of beach activities.
Whilst you are catching the rays, pay a thought to Father Christmas! (St. Nicholas , the patron saint of children, sailors, teachers, students and merchants). He was born here in 245 A.D.
Kalkan is on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, with an average of 300 days of sunshine in a year
The area offers a wealth of fascinating historical sites and the magnificent view of the clean and clear Mediterranean.
An old fishing town, Kalkan clings to the coastline around an ancient safe harbour (between Kas and Fethiye) and overlooks a beautiful bay dotted with islands. With white-washed houses, descending to the sea, and brightly coloured bougainvilleas as far as the eye can see, Kalkan is truly one of the most picturesque places in the world.
A sense of history is important in Kalkan and the town has retained much of its distinctive Greek architecture. In addition, strict building codes keep the town small and ensure new building blends with the historic heart of the town known as 'Old Kalkan' .
Fine dining has always been the norm in Kalkan and in fact, it is said to have the highest number of restaurants and bars per square metre on the Turkish coast!
With nature still intact, and in the centre of the wealth of the remains of ancient civilizations, KALKAN is the ideal getaway for those who want calm and relaxation, to enjoy the natural beauty of the cleanest seashore, of rough mountains covered with pine forests, and also for those who want to explore the remains of the ancient Lycian cities in the neighbourhood.
Activities & Day Trips
High up on your list should be a boat trip around the island of Kekova and the Sunken City, accessible from a number of port towns along the coast.
Exploring the ruins
Kalkan is a great base for day excursions to the ancient Lycian sites of the Xanthos Valley, which includes the ancient sites of Tlos, Xanthos, Letoon, and Patara. Several travel agencies in town offer excursions to one or more of the sites as part of a day tour

The waters off Kalkan provide some of the best venues for scuba diving along the Mediterranean.
Canoeing along the Xanthos River is an exhilarating way to spend the day.
A popular activity especially suited to the area is horseback riding.
Marina & Beaches
Usually, a Marina is for members only. Not so here at the Kalkan Marina. All visitors are welcome to rent a lounge and umbrella in the Marina Club. There is an on-site water sports outfit, called Blue Marlin and there is also a snack bar.
Kalkan also boasts its very own pebble beach, at the eastern end of town that is fed by the icy fresh spring waters channelling down from the mountain.
Over at Kalamar Bay is the Kalamar Beach Club. An intimate series of cement patio terraces with beach lounges backed by a restaurant and snack bar.
Shopping
There are plenty of shops in Kalkan, all of which open early in the day and stay open until at least midnight. And unlike other resort towns, shopping in Kalkan is completely hassle-free. An evening spent strolling about the winding streets and alleys while window shopping can be very rewarding as there are so many things to see and buy in the many specialty shops.
You can find almost anything in Kalkan, from carpets to tee-shirts and boxes of Turkish delight and the traditional blue-coloured glass "evil eye" for warding off evil spirits. Gold and silver jewellery is a great buy in Turkey as it is sold by its weight. Lovely antiques, collected selectively from all over Turkey during the winter months, are very attractive as well. Other items include: intricately-decorated ceramics, hand-blown glass, hand-carved Meerschaum pipes and backgammon sets inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
Enjoy shopping for excellent clothing. Several tailors are ready to make you made-to-measure clothing of excellent Turkish cloth. Affordable boutiques offer high fashion clothing, hand-knit articles and leather goods (for excellent prices).
Beautiful Turkish kilims (hand-woven rugs) and carpets (traditional knotted rugs) are very beautiful and will last well over a century. Take your time to find the one which fits you perfectly. There are a vast number of types which come from many regions of Turkey with different styles and stories which your salesperson can describe to you in detail. If you can't afford a carpet or kilim this time, there are also shops which offer lovely high-quality articles made of kilims, such as cushion covers, bags, purses, wallets and slippers.
Prices in Kalkan are very affordable and shopkeepers are happy to accept your foreign currency.
Food & Drink
Start your day with a lazy breakfast on the terrace of one of the restaurants along the marina, watching the heavy traffic of boats moving in and out of the harbour.
Kalkan is said to have the highest number of restaurants and bars per inhabitant or per square meter on the Turkish coast. Almost every restaurant has its own roof-top or terrace bar serving all kinds of international drinks and cocktails with wonderful views of the town, sea and stars.
There are over forty restaurants in Kalkan offering everything from traditional Turkish meals to international cuisine. Most restaurants offer an open buffet with a large choice of meze (starters) which is followed by fish or grilled meat. The Turkish way of dining is to begin with a selection of three or four starters, followed by the main course, and ending with fruit or dessert and Turkish coffee. Meals can be lingered over for hours in the refreshingly cool evening air, often finishing close to midnight. All prices are displayed near the restaurant’s entrance except fish which can be subject to bargaining.
At the harbour front there are many open-aired restaurants. Popular dishes at the Aubergine Restaurant include fillets of wild boar, grilled prawns or marinated swordfish.
