José Soldado House is located in Fajã dos Padres, a very special place in the south coast of Madeira island.
Fajã dos Padres is a small piece of land by the sea, at the bottom of a cliff approximately 250 meters high.

The house is part of a small set of ancient houses that were rebuilt over the last years, and are set within a biological farm producing several tropical fruits as well as the famous Madeira wine. The property has also a restaurant, which serves a selection of dishes with origins in the traditional Madeira cuisine.

José Soldado house is perched over the sea, thus benefiting from an extraordinary view of all the cliff of Ribeira Brava and over Ponta do Sol.
 

Fajã dos Padres can only be reached by sea, or by means of a modern scenic lift.
The lift trip starts at Quinta Grande, and entails approximately 250 meters, experienced in a 4-minute downward travel, along the coast of the huge cliff down to Fajã dos Padres.
Notice that from the road, there are 180 steps down from the top of the cliff to the lift and 180 steps from the lift to the bottom.
Through the lift’s panoramic window, visitors can enjoy each minute of the descent admire the southern coast of Madeira all the way to Ponta do Sol, the small bay of Fajã which gets nearer every second or, simply, enjoy the view of the sea as far as the sight beholds.

And once arrived to Fajã, guests will benefit from the absence of vehicles in the whole property, and take advantage of the walks in old alleys opened along tropical fruit orchards.
 

At José Soldado House guests will feel surrounded by the magnificence of nature.

The sea is right in front of the house, and Fajã dos Padres exclusive rocky beach is some steps away. A small pier and a solarium help having a comfortable swim in the Madeira mild and transparent waters.

Nice walks can be taken inside the property, trough old alleys opened along the fruit trees, and below a trellis of malmsey vine.

Guests can freely use the lift whenever they want to go out to explore Madeira Island, visiting the nearest villages, trying out a levada walk, or having a thrilling experience of whale and dolphin watching.
 

The cottage comprises 1 bedrooms in total; 1 twin and 2 cots. The property also has 2 single sofa beds located in the Living room. This gives room for up to 4 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The cottage has 1 bathrooms for your party's use.

The cottage has television satellite/cable. The music system will play radio. If you need to keep in contact there is a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a toaster. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this cottage.

The cottage is in a very quiet area. It has a south facing garden, a summer house, a south facing patio area, sea views, panoramic views, a barbeque.

Close to the cottage you will find wind surfing, cycling, mountain biking, tennis, a sports center, historic sites, a museum, shopping areas, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find climbing, horse riding, golf, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.

You can also experience bird watching, hiking, or dolphin and whale watching boat trips.

Cabo Girão, the giant 580 mts cliff over the sea is just 5 minutes away from Fajã dos Padres.

derek says: "just as advertised, a unique setting. Amazing variety of fruit being grown, property very private and tranquil (all yours after 6pm when visitors to the bar/restaurant have left)! Well presented accommodation right on the sea line with unimpeded views. A little basic regarding cooking utensils but adequate. Owners couldnt be more helpful and friendly. Only reservation is regarding access as the 150 steps to the lift and similar number from base of lift to ground level can be taxing!! Plus lift requires a head for heights!! but both well worth the effort! "
