the property is a two rooms charming studio situated in an historical building in the very heart of the medieval town of Cagliari, "Castello" ("the Castle"), a net of narrow streets with the Pisani Towers, the white Bastioni overlooking the harbour, the town and the pink flamingos lakes.
You are in the centre of the shopping area, at 5 min. from the vegetables, fish and meat "Santa Chiara" market, 10 min. from the train and coaches main station there is a bus stop just in front of the building, the bus takes to Piazza Yenne and Piazza Matteotti where you can take buses going everywhere in the town, especially to the beaches.
"Poetto" beach is extraordinarily long, 12 km, but if you prefer rocks to sand beach you can choose Calamosca.
You can even rent at the same time our other apt in Alghero ("Sunny Terrace"), creating your personal trip along Sardinia.
 

In "Castello" district you can visit the medieval towers Torre dellElefante and Torre di San Pancrazio, the Cattedrale, the Museums of the Cittadella dei Musei, the Galleria Comunale dArte inside the Giardini Pubblici Park, the History Museum, and more...
really near Cagliari there is the Barumini "Nuraghi" old town, built with enormous stones other "Nuraghi" are situated all around the town, reachable by coach.
From the main station every day leaves the "Trenino Verde", the old "Green Train", taking you inside the ancient woods of Sardinia, to some "Nuraghi" site and to the "Tombe dei Giganti" ("Giants tombs") and Menhirs.
At 1 hour distance by coach you can reach the old phoenician and roman town of Nora (near the Forte Village and the Is Molas golf club), with its romantic path along the ruines, in front of the sea, amidst the gulls screaming. 

in front of the Poetto beach there a big lagoon of Molentargius where lots of ping flamingos live, inside the town!
You can easily see them from the little roads crossing the lake, they are not afraid of humans!
Or go to "Chia Laguna", at 45 min from Cagliari (reachable by coach), a beautiful beach with pink flamingos living in the lagoons, a well known place near the "Forte Village" of Santa Margherita.

Jennie says: "Snug in the heart of the historical district in the Castello region which towers over Cagliari, this huge, over 170 sm apt was very much enjoyed for our 4 week stay. It was well maintained, VERY clean, the kitchen had excellent appliances and cookware . The pans were stainless steel, high quality teflon skillet, small food processer/chopper, hand mixer and juicers. Plenty of cutlery, cooking utensils and lovely dishes. The washing machine worked well although it required almost 2 hours per load to complete the cycle - very different than Canada -a nifty place to easily hang all the laundry and she even supplied the laundry deterent. The location was great - right in the middle of the historical district with museums just down the street and antiquity everywhere you look. Many restaurants and food stores within walking distance. The living room/bedroom was equipped with an excellent HD LCD TV with lots of channels including several in English. For the first 3 weeks there were even movies in English. The Bastion S. Remy was just down the hill and provided a spectacular view over the city and water. Two bars of note in the area - one on Bastion S. Remy which gave the term "lounge" new meaning. With outside seating areas which included large black king size beds with pillows and twin size cots surrounding a large square table reminicent of ancient Rome as well as hammocks for the most advanced level of relaxation I've ever seen. Another unique bar down the street, although it had a regular looking exterior door on the street, when you descended down the stairs after entering, you were enveloped by an actual cave that had been used to make catapult balls in the 12th century -- one of which was on display. A close-by restaurant we enjoyed with authentic Sardegna food was Mario's - the signs for it are everywhere. We visited in late February, early March and found the apt quite cold - 15 degrees in the early evening and since heat was so expensive we were reluctant to turn on the heat before the customary 7:30 pm time. The sofa bed we slept on was adequate but had to fold it up when we had company and noticed a lack of upholstered chairs. There were 2 desks which we made good use of with our computers and an excellent ironing board which I also appreciated with my quilting. Overall, our experience was excellent and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the Castello region. It's great walking and great for the glutimous maximus and quadraceps. "
