In full Mediterranean style, Villa le Ancore is situated directlely on the waterfront and owes her name to the Anchors that make beautiful show of itself on the external walls of the villa.
The spectacular terrace at ground floor (250 mq), from which the promontory of Taormina can be admired, is the true bridge of command of the Villa, that with the its 800mq of covered surface, the private access to sea, the solarium in coverage, the finishes of merit and the prestigious furnitures, are able to satisfy also the most demanding clients.
The five bedrooms and (three matrimonial + two single) the five baths (of which two directly in room) to the first plan allow to entertain, in the most comforting way, eight people.


 

Villa le Ancore is situated near the town of Giarre on the east coast of Sicily about half way between Catania and Taormina It is a good base from which to visit Taormina, Catania, Mount Etna and the various fascinating villages on its flanks. There are also several charming fishing villages and some nice beaches nearby. An eighteen hole golf course (il Picciolo) is about 45 minutes drive away. Further afield, Syracuse, the baroque towns of the Noto valley, the quiet beaches of Vendicari and Capo Passero to the south and Messina to the north are all comfortably reachable for day trips.

 

 

The villa comprises 5 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 3 twin, 1 single and 2 cots, 2 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. . This gives room for up to 8 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 5 bathrooms and 5 WCs for your party's use. Air-conditioning keeps the villa cool. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The villa has television satellite/cable.

There is room for 9 in the living room and 9 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine. The owner has also provided cutlery, glassware.

Smoking is allowed in this villa.

Review submitted by non-Villarenters customer: We recently returned from a great vacation in Sicily where we stayed with friends at the Villa Le Ancore. It's a beautiful property, large and gracious, very clean and very nicely and comfortably furnished. Just steps away on the other side of a narrow street in front is the ocean with a nice walkway along it. The views are fantastic. The description, which mentions the wonderful ground floor terrace, doesn't even mention the fact that there are terraces on two other levels. There are doors out from several of the upstairs bedrooms to a balcony that wraps around two sides of the house. You can see this in one of the pictures. Our wonderful surprise was the great rooftop terrace. There is an outside staircase leading to the huge rooftop terrace that has the beautiful view of the ocean and coastline to Taormina but also of Mt Etna. We were lucky enough to see it very clearly on several of the days we were there. The pictures on this website are exactly what the house looks like and the description is accurate. Also, the owners are extremely nice and helpful. They provided us with lots of useful information and were very willing to answer all of our questions. They were also genuinely interested in making sure we were satisfied. During our very nice welcome to the villa we were given a tour and some instructions and encouraged to call if there were any problems (we did not need to call). There are also buses and a train station nearby and there are restaurants within walking distance. In fact it is a short and very pleasant walk to the marina in Riposto and to the smaller village of Torre Archirafi in the other direction. We ate at several very good restaurants nearby, two of which were in the Blue Guide (Marricriu was one and I think the other is called Bistro di Porto which is right at the marina). There was also a place to get a gelato just a short walk away. The villa was located very conveniently for exploring the east coast of Sicily and it was not difficult to get to or from the airport in Catania. During our stay, we made easy day trips to Taormina and some towns along the way like Giardini Naxos as well as the Gole Alacantra. We also went to Siracusa/Ortygia, The Acis (Acireale and Aci Trezza or the Riviera Cyclopi), Mt Etna and some towns on it's slopes, and into Catania for the famous fish market. There's a convenient shopping center just 10 minutes away with a large grocery store. If you like to cook there were plenty of dishes and cookware provided. We ate only breakfast and some lunches at the villa and went out for dinner. But it was so much nicer than being in a hotel. Because the highway is only 10 minutes away it's probably possible to visit further places without much problem like Agrigento and Palermo. We had hoped to go to Noto and Ragusa but will have to return again to explore more of Sicily. We originally thought we would only sleep at the villa and be out all day but we enjoyed it so much that we chose to spend leisurely time over coffee in the morning planning our day and enjoying the view. We enjoyed lunch on the front terrace several times and some days we returned in time for sunset over Mt Etna from the rooftop terrace which was wonderful. Buon viaggio!
