The Cosonella farm, once belonging to Villa Cosona, is a farmhouse situated in the middle of the Artistic, Natural and Cultural Park of Val d’Orcia, between the hills of the “Crete Senesi”. The Crete Senesi : a lunar landscape dominated by tones of grey which blend and change depending on the time of day or the season. A worldwide patrimony which is recognized by UNESCO.
The territory, which extends to 350 hectares of land, is completely enclosed, crossed from a typical “country road” ( dirt track) with crosses passages of the famous trace of Via Francigena, route taken by the pilgrims of Paris who wanted to reach Rome during the Middle Age.
In front of the ancient constructions are posted coat of arms that testifie the belonging to the “Ospedale S. Maria della Scala”, which had served shelter for pilgrims for many centuries.
The farms that accommodate the so called “agriturismo” dated back to XVI century are scattered in the vast territory that extends till your eyes can see, in an uncontaminated nature where animals and birds live freely. They have recently been restored, respecting their architectural values and adding what we expect nowadays. The apartments are large and spacious with antique floors and large fire places. The furniture is simple and elegant, in keeping with the old structures.
The family Bichi Ruspoli , through its Forteguerri branch, resided here from 1465; the Villa of Cosona was acquired by the Cardinal Niccolò Forteguerri for its vicinity to Pienza , the place of origin of Pope Pio II Piccolomini ( whose mother was a Forteguerri ) . The property belongs now to Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri family extending to Gasperini Zacco.
 

The farms
Cosonella, le Sorbelle, PoderNuovo and San Tommaso are names of the old houses assigned to host tourists ; they have been restored recently maintaining their typical old characteristic structure of farmhouses of the Tuscany country.

The apartments
The farmhouses are divided into 8 communicating apartments. An apartment can accommodate from 4 to 6 persons. Each with its own entrance , terrace complete with beach umbrellas, deck chairs and barbecue grill.

Inside is a wide living room with fireplace, a dining room, a completely equipped kitchen , two bed-rooms. One with matrimonial bed and another with twin beds ( there is the possibility of adding beds ) and a bathroom with shower.
Each apartment is fully supplied with bathroom and kitchen towels and bedsheets , kitchen wares and electrical appliances for everyday use. There is an autonomous heating of gas and firewoods.

The farm house comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the in a separated room ( studio ). This gives room for up to 5 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The farm house has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The farm house has television. The music system will play cassettes, radio. Recreational activities available with the farm house include table tennis.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this farm house.

The farm house is in a very quiet area. It has access to a shared swimming pool, a south facing garden, a south facing patio area (with heater), panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking and a garage with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.
