The Property
Casa Morra is an enchanting former priest''s house complete with 11th century chapel, which has been sensitively restored to preserve its ancient origins. It is comfortably furnished with country antiques, and has a romantic hand-carved four-poster bed in the main bedroom. The house's original chestnut beams and terracotta floors give it a wonderful rustic atmosphere.
The gardens
The grounds contain a magnificent 14'2 m-long salt-water chlorinated swimming pool with a grotto at one end to provide shelter from the heat. A stunning Renaissance panorama stretches in front of terraces of the property.
The area
The house is perfect for sightseeing trips to both Tuscany and Umbria's best known beauty and artistic towns, Siena, Cortona, Assisi, Gubbio, Arezzo and Perugia, as well as the medieval towns of San Sepolchro, Citta di Castello, Monte Santa Maria, and Montone. Umbria abounds with glorious mediaeval villages and towns. Foremost amongst these is the superlative rose-pink home of the patron saint of animals, St Francis, the city of Assisi. Both a religious shrine and a tourist centre of enormous impact, Assisi is a 'must' for visitors to Casa Schine. Considered the most unspoilt mediaeval city in Italy, Gubbio has nestled in its mountain setting over many centuries. The famous 'Festa Dei Ceri' takes place every May 5th and is un-missable. The wonderful stronghold of Perugia is an international centre, and sits over its fascinating underground city.
