If you speak any Italian, “bela” means exactly what you think it means in Slovenian. And Bohinjska Bela is just that. We’ve included as much information as we can on this page
Bela sits between Bled and Bohinj meaning that when you don’t feel like lounging in the Farmhouse’s orchard or admiring the views from the balcony, you are perfectly positioned to choose between cafes, romance and history or nature, sports and tranquility.

Coming back to Bela after a day out and about you’ll find everything you need during your stay. The local shop stocks all the essentials (including some very good local wine and beer), there are a couple of lovely village pubs and the restaurant down the road does genuinely great food.

Bled (6 minutes), famous for the its beautiful, island church surrounded by a crystal lake and overlooked by a thousand year old castle, has been Slovenia’s most popular holiday destination for generations. Cafes and shops surround the more popular areas of the lake but you won't need to walk far to find a quiet spot all of your own. Boats trips are available out to the island where you can climb the ninety-nine steps up to the church and ring the bell for to ensure a future of prosperity and good fortune. There is a golf course nerby with a spectacular mountain backdrop as well as very cheap scenic flights just down the road. If you want to stay on the ground but still get a different perspective, head up the hill to the castle, soak in the magnificent views and dine in the excellent castle restaurant.

Bohinj (20 minutes) is the name of the large lake that sits below Slovenia’s highest mountain (Mt Triglav) in the middle of Slovenia’s largest National Park. Planning in this area has been strictly controlled and the lake and surrounding mountains have escaped the over-development that you see in so many of Europe’s other, formerly beautiful Alpine destinations. As well as magnificent hill walking and mountain biking, there is “an almost ludicrous range of activities available” [Times Online]. Slovenia really does offer almost every outdoor activity imaginable and of course we’ve teamed up with the most experienced and safest instructors we could find.

 

When we bought the Farmhouse it quickly became clear that it was far too big for one family, or even two for that matter, so we have spent more than a year working closely with the Slovenian Heritage Trust and our Slovenian architect to convert it into luxury, holiday apartments without losing the spacious, traditional feel of the house we originally fell in love with.

In this apartment on the first floor, there are excellent views across the valley from the South-facing balcony, a double and a twin bedroom (bunkbeds) as well as a double sofa-bed (which is genuinely comfortable to sleep on) in the living room.

All our furniture is of the highest quality; our double beds are king size (no fighting over duvets in our house) and to make your stay as comfortable as possible we provide big fluffy towels, cosy robes and slippers for Winter and a “Welcome Pack” (a yummy selection of local goodies so that you can be munching under the fruit trees in the garden without even going to the shop.)


 

In terms of outdoor sports we work closely with our partners at Pac Sports to offer more activities that you can shake a stick at. From rafting to paragliding in the summer to snowshoeing and ski touring in the winter, they’ve got qualified instructors for every outdoor activity available. You can book in advance through us to guarantee your place (and avoid constantly having to put your hand in your pocket when you get there) or you can keep it flexible and we’ll help you arrange things once you arrive.

ROCK CLIMBING
For climbers or those who want to give it a try, the Farmhouse really offers something special. The village of Bohinjska Bela is surrounded on the North side by a thirty-meter high cliff face and our garden backs directly on to a section of the cliff. You can climb in the privacy of back garden, (routes from 6a-8b) minutes from your own bathroom and without having to carry kit for miles, or you can stroll up through the village and enjoy one of the best climbing areas in the country (routes from 3 to 8b+).

Although Pac Sports offer climbing courses too, we felt that a location this special deserved a bit more so we were delighted to team up with Matjaz from the Ljubljana climbing club. He has been teaching rock climbing since he was 13 years old and now works, not only as an instructor, but as a Alpine guide as well. His knowledge of the area is unparalleled. Matjaz can offer tuition to less experienced climbers and excellent advice to more able climbers on how to get to the different areas nearby and when to go. We wanted the Farmhouse to be somewhere people could relax after (or instead of) their outdoor exertions so we are working hard to add a luxury wellness center downstairs in what used to be the summer kitchen and log store. There will be a state of the art infra-red sauna and an outdoor hot-tub to help ease those aching limbs and if you feel like pampering yourself even more we’re adding massage tables and have arranged with the local aqua park that masseurs/euses will be able to come to the house (by appointment) to provide a range of wellness and beauty treatments without you even having to leave the building.

 

Outside hot tub. BIKES can be provided in the summer and in the winter skiers can have their SKIS SERVICED FREE of charge although you should be aware that this will reduce the number of excuses you can use when you have a bad day. FREE UNLIMITED WIFI and CABLE TV are provided so that you never feel too far from home. In the GARDEN there is loads of traditional RUSTIC SEATING as well as a large ORCHARD and GRAPE VINE to provide healthy snacks off the branch in case you over indulge on sausages and burgers.

The apartment comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the Living Room. This gives room for up to 5 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The apartment has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The apartment has television dvd, satellite/cable.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The apartment is in a very quiet area. It has a south facing garden, a south facing balcony, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.
