As the villas are made of stone they are warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer, with high ceilings and tiled floors throughout. Solar power water system. New for 2007 hydraulic water pressure system fitted to ensure excellent pressure. Pressure can be really low, at times, in Turkey.

Local amenities
Amenities within the village of Ortakoy: a short walk away, there are a few village shops selling basic provisions and Bekir, the shop owner, is very welcoming.

On Wednesday there is a small weekly market selling fruit and vegetables. A kebab stall will be in the village market place a number of days a week.

A number of quality restaurants are short drive away, one in particular, in Oren, is on an island between 2 rivers and has fantastic locally caught or farmed trout, you eat the meal sitting over the river. The ambience is great.

The quaint and traditional town of Kemer is 6 miles away. It has a town square with shops, mini markets. There is a cash machine, post office, butcher, pharmacist, international phone boxes, internet cafe, bakers, and small supermarkets.

A local dolmus (Mini-bus service) that operates from Kemer to Fethiye town from 6AM until 10:30 PM every 15 minutes during the summer season and half-hourly in the winter.
There is a good sized weekly market every Friday where local produce of fruit and vegetables, clothes and souvenirs can be bought.

A lovely restaurant with a picturesque riverside setting located next to Kemer park area. We can highly recommend the mixed grill and at cost of 10YTL, is excellent value for money, around £4. Another restaurant has just opened overlooking the Kemer valley, which has a fantastic view and cool breezes in which to enjoy a lovely meal.

Fethiye, an ancient and bustling town, with magnificent natural harbour, lovely sea views, and wonderful promenade with bars and restaurants, a great place to watch the world go by is only 30-40 minutes drive away.

There are plenty of restaurants and a variety of shops. With a variety of souvenir, leather, carpet and gold shopping. Excellent value for money.

You will find Turkey to be a very child friendly and safe environment, with low crime rates. They have just completed new children’s play areas in Fethiye near to the port. There are quiet areas for you to relax and enjoy this lovely environment.

The Tuesday market is a real must to see the fruit and veg market, a range of “designer labels “are available from many stalls.

Turkish food is held by many to be one of the world’s greatest cuisines. Dining is regarded as an occasion – unhurried, highly hospitable, and ceremonial!

Turkish bread is a staple as is the local variety called pide, similar to pizza. Soups, mezze and salads are plentiful as are kebabs and kofte or meatballs. There are a number of delicious fish dishes available in most cafes and the local specialty of stuffed vegetables.

Turkey is the only place we can think of where the quality of food goes up but the cost goes down.

Turkish wines are becoming quite popular and are generally cheap and tasty. You may wish to try one of the country’s favourite drink of raki – an aniseed based grape brandy.

Many people comment that one visit will not be enough, and you will want to come back again, as you discover more extraordinary places around this area. All of them have one thing in common: the friendly and hospitable people of this unique country.

Fethiye is now becoming an all year round resort, now with regular Winter flights.

You can explore the wonderful Saklikent Gorge, we have 2 fabuous beaches nearby Patara has been voted in the best 10in the World, recently. Pure beach and sea as nature intended. The well known Olu Deniz that lagoon and beach that is well known to be used to advertise Turkey.

Other things to try on holiday for a day out Camel trekking horse riding, a day at the aqua park many archaelogical places of interest. A Turkish bath is a must, the experience is heavenly.

Review submitted by non-Villarenters customer: “Thanks very much, the holiday was great, the place beautiful, the people very helpful and friendly (The surplus of apricots included), and the relaxation complete. If you could arrange to maintain that state of mind for the rest of the year I would be seriously impressed. We will recommend to others”.

M & L families (one family stayed in each villa) from Berwickshire. June/ July

“Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at one of your beautiful villas in Turkey. The whole holiday was a Turkish Delight!

As we departed for the homeward journey, I reflected that my short stay was one of cherished experiences.

I felt that I had reached out and sampled a piece of Turkey. Not only had I glimpsed an extraordinary world of physical beauty but had the privilege to view it through Turkish eyes too.

The people were lovely. Language was no barrier to our neighbours' generosity and kindness. We felt that it was a privilege to meet with them and share their community.

I came away content and enlightened. There is no doubt I will return again.”

S C from Lowestoft October

"Fabulous villas and amazing views of the mountains, covered in snow! Locals are very friendly and the daily delivery of oranges is a lovely gesture. Oludeniz is a fabulous beach with lovely calm waters and is well worth a visit, Fethiye market is also something that should not be missed on a Tuesday, and where sampling apple tea with the traders and bartering for your goods is great fun. Had a fabulous week, will definitely be back."

A C from Colchester February

"As my holiday is nearly ending, I would like you to know what a wonderful place this is to rest and relax, listen to the birds in the morning. Watching the mountain views change by the hour. Enjoy wonderful shopping and courtesy of the shop and stall holders, a truly amazing experience. I hope that all other visitors enjoy the wonderful peaceful and tranquil way of life you will have during your stay." May

"Wonderful relaxing location, with fantastic swimming pool. Have spent many hours floating, swimming and cooling down. Spectacular views and loved all the countryside noises! Trips we would recommend include Fethiye market, Oludeniz beach and a wonderful boat trip around the 12 islands on 'Olive Oil' boat. A great day out."

K M from Hampshire July

"We had a lovely time and the villa was fantastic. The pool and the mountains were wonderful and we had a great time paragliding, doing boat trips and visiting ruins. Thank you. Route over the top through Uzumlu much better way to Fethiye that the main road and just as quick!"

M L from Cambridgeshire July

"Our stay here has been amazing! Remote unusual and beautiful. We feel we have some experience of the 'real' Turkey. Having spent our first week in Dalyan, this has been a marvelous contrast. Thank you. WE LOVE IT! Thank you."

N R from London August

The villas are set against the stunning backdrop of the mountains they are beautifully furnished. The small attention to detail such as board games, pool furniture and the cd players make it home from home and allowed us to provide our own entertainment.

The people who are looking after the villas and in the village are friendly and will try and help as much as possible, we even had one lady who brought us freshly baked warm bread one afternoon whilst we were in the pool.

We didn't hire a car and still managed to get round without too much problem using the local buses.

I think the villas allow people to experience Turkey as it really is. We all enjoyed our stay very much and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a holiday of total relaxation."

S S from Yorkshire October

We had a very different kind of holiday in Turkey this year in that we normally learn some of the language first and are better prepared. However, we had a great time, thanks to the good advice and clear instructions from Liz.

Two of the many high spots of our holiday will stay with us - the wonderful, ever-changing colours of the mountain-view from the pool and the obvious desire of the locals for us to share and enjoy their country.

We were given homegrown fruit by the villagers nearly every day.

We were so glad to be away from the main towns, especially after experiencing Fethiye market!

It was altogether different from our usual European holidays and one we shall never forget.

J P from Watford August

The villas are set in a beautiful, relaxing place - ideal for you to make your own entertainment in the evening but chill and relax from the stresses of everyday life.

We found the locals to be very friendly, especially the man in the supermarket - he was extremely pleasant and loved trying to communicate with us.

We can highly recommend the little kebab shop in the village which is open most nights.

We all felt totally relaxed and chilled when we left the villas after our week's holiday.

S B from Doncaster October

Once again, thank you both on my stay in your beautiful home in Ortakoy. It really was a unique experience and I have so many wonderful memories of the sights and sounds of Turkey - particularly the rural ones!

J P from Lowestoft October

Special day trip arranged for these guests and feedback as follows:

Mustafa and his friend were so kind to us - we would never have seen the fascinating places without them and their company as interpreters was invaluable.

I do hope that your future guests get the same enjoyment at Frankincence Villas as we had
