Located at the heart of the medieval hilltop village of Lavardens, this well-appointed house dating back to the 12th century enjoys wonderful views. Lavardens is a small listed village of 114 inhabitants with a general store, a restaurant, a bar/brasserie, and a military-style château which features frequent exhibitions - ALL JUST 50 METRES FROM THE HOUSE !!! There are also several working artisans' studios adding to the pleasant atmosphere of the village.

At Castéra-Verduzan (9km) there are tennis courts, bike hire, horse riding, a leisure lake with a beach where one can, swim,fish and wind-surf. A thermal spa and casino can also be found here. The area enjoys many village fêtes and night markets in the summer, with day markets in most of the villages and towns nearby. The beautiful town of Auch with its impressive cathedral and very good restaurants is just 20km away. There are 18 hole golf courses in Auch (20km) and Eauze (41km). Fleurance (15km) also has a very good 9/18 hole course.
 

A large entrance hall with exposed stone walls and terracotta tiled floors opens onto a spacious well-equipped kitchen with a dining area, a living room with an original Napoleon I fireplace and a less formal sitting room which leads onto a large balcony with wonderful views over the garden, gently rolling countryside. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a private balcony and en suite shower room with wc.

An impressive original stone staircase leads up to the first floor which contains a large mezzanine with a sofa, a separate wc, one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms (one twin has zip/linkable beds) of which two have views of open countryside and one of the village Château. There is also a large family bathroom with both bath and a separate shower.  

The house is located on the street leading up to the Château. The self-contained, enclosed garden of 1300sqm which has panoramic views and mature trees for additional shade, is accessed via a small lane. The garden is spacious and contains a fenced pond with a pontoon (also fenced). The 10 x 4 m swimming pool with roman steps and an adjacent shower, is surrounded by a spacious sunbathing patio with loungers, next to which is a large covered terrace (10m x 5m) containing a changing room, sink, fridge, dining area and barbeque.

In 2008, for music lovers we have the world renowned, Country and Western Festival in Mirande (10-14 July) and Jazz in Marciac (01-17 August) 

Swimming pool towels are also provided. Four bikes are available, 2 adult and 2 for children.

The house comprises 4 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 2 twin and 1 cots, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. . This gives room for up to 8 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The house has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The house has television video, dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio. If you need to keep in contact there is a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.

There is room for 8 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Close to the house you will find a beach, sailing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, mountain biking, golf, tennis, a sports center, a museum, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas.

Within easy reach of the house you will find flying, horse riding.

Hot air ballooning, astronomy, thermal spa and a casino are available within 15mins drive

The Chateau in the village has exhibitions throughout the year.

May says: "The decor of the house is really interesting . As a visitor to France, 'Le Paradis' captures the 'ambiance' of French living. Each room has been well thought out e.g., Walking into the house, the stone-work in the hall and the wide sweeping staircase are 'natural'. I liked the idea of the sofa and table lamp at the top of the stairs, a place to sit and relax. We found the sun lounge so good, the view across the valley so tranquil.
