Our house is situated in the Altiplano in the peaceful village of Puente Arriba which is between Benamaurel and Castillejar. All your catering needs can be purchased in the village shop (except during siesta time, and Sundays), and the local bar will introduce you to the warmth of true spanish hospitality. Locally baked bread can be bought from the bakers van on a daily basis. To gain the most from your holiday, car hire is essential. 

This property is a typically spanish villa. As you enter the hallway, you turn left through the double doors into the spacious, modern, fully equipped kitchen/dining room. The large living room has two comfy sofas and a sofa bed in front of an inviting log fire.
Don't miss the soaps on the satellite TV in the living room (BBC, ITV etc). There is a DVD/CD player for you to enjoy your favourite films and melodies. The living room opens out onto the balcony where you can relax and enjoy the warm evenings while soaking up the view across the village and down to the river. The house is fully centrally heated making it ideal for a stay at any time of year.
All linen is provided and changed on a weekly basis. Beach towels are available on request.
 

This area of outstanding natural beauty offers a diverse range of activities from birdwatching to snow boarding. Ramblers would be wise to take their cameras as the photographic opportunities are stunning. The elevated walk at the waterfall of Castril is a must, and more strenuous walks are numerous. Lake Negratin offers calm waters for swimming and anglers often take up the challenge of providing fresh trout for dinner. Other water sports are also available. The ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada are an hour and a half drive away near Granada. Golf can be played at Granada, or at one of the coastal courses - about an hour and a halfs drive. The Alhambra Palace at Granada is one of Spains most famous historical monuments, and the city also offers an excellent shopping centre if retail therapy is required. During July and August there are numerous outdoor pools in the area. The tranquil situation of our house offers an ideal base for either a busy activity holiday, or a complete, away from it all break.

 

From the house there are stunning views out across the valley, over the olive groves and encompassing the village church. In winter, you can see the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada. There is off road parking for two cars. An extra bed can be put into the master bedroom to make a family room. A car is essential for this location.

The villa comprises 3 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the Living Room. This gives room for up to 9 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The villa has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The villa has television video, dvd, satellite/cable. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 7 in the living room and 10 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this villa.

The villa can be accessed by a wheelchair ramp. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor along with a very large kitchen/diner/lounge. This is 5.2 x 6.4 m (17' 2" x 21'). It includes a dining table with 6 chairs, 2 sofas and a TV. The ground floor bathroom is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, and there is a corner bath with an integral seat. Former wheelchair users have been very happy in the villa and made repeat bookings.

The villa is suitable for wheelchairs users, however it has not been adapted for the disabled. 

The villa is in a very quiet area. It has a east facing patio area, a east facing balcony, panoramic views, interesting views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The villa is right beside walking, a food shop.

Close to the villa you will find swimming, a restaurant.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find sailing, fishing, tennis, a sports center, historic sites, a museum, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas.

Hot Air Baloon flights take off from Guadix, & there is a karting track in Baza.

Lake Negratin is just 20 mins drive for swimming, pedalos and fishing. Restaurant.

Eric says: "This is an first class property ideally located for exploring this wonderful part of rural Spain. The house is superbly equipped everything and more to make your stay a memorable one. Sue & Eddie are the perfect hosts always helpful and friendly, they will welcome you into their cave next door for a game of pool or just to sit and have a chat around the BBQ. Don't be put off by the fact that this property has not got a pool there are four of the most wonderful municipal pools within 5-20 mins drive of the house costing 2 euros for the day. Los Olivos artificial lake is a little over 5 minutes away and the pool at Culler is around 20 minutes away, there are also pools in Benanaurel and Cortes De Baza around 10 minutes drive. Don't miss our favourite area LAKE NEGRATIN this is absolutely breathtaking lake, you can just lay and sunbathe or take a journey out on the lake on a pedalo, it is also a great place for swimming. Most of these attractions have excellent restaurants next to them selling great food at very reasonable prices. Last but not least take the 5 minute walk from the house into 3JJJ's bar, this is a traditional Spanish bar serving a different tapas with every drink you purchase and what is even better....the tapas is totally free, Jose and Eno the owners will make you very welcome.
