Location
The area
Los Montesinos is a residential area about 30 minutes drive south of Alicante Airport on Spains Costa Blanca. The villa is situated just a 5 minute walk from the nearest bars, restaurants and also a large supermarket for all your needs. You are a 10 - 15 minute drive to the main town of Torrevieja with a multitude of bars and restaurents (English, Spanish, German, Chinese and Italian). Far enough away though to get a peaceful nights sleep. Guardamar beach is only a 10 minute car drive. There are tennis courts, bowling club, snooker club and a sports complex. Also, a large market operating on Sundays and Thursdays, 3 large supermarkets, internet cafes, doctors surgery, pharmacy, 3 banks and a tourist information centre. A car is not essential as there is a local bus service to the nearest main towns and a service to the beach during the summer months. But hiring a car does help to get around and fully appreciate the area so why not try www.carjet.com or www.aquacar.net for a quote. There are a number of taxis available in the area and our local agent can arrange to collect you from the airport if required.
Accommodation
We moved into the villa in November 2005, use it as our own holiday home and hope to retire there in a few years time. We fell in love with the design of the villa and the sheer feeling of openness it gave us. It comfortably sleeps 8 and has a large lounge/dining area, separate kitchen, twin bedroom and small shower/toilet on the ground floor. The master bedroom on the first floor has a king size bed and leads onto its own balcony through patio doors where you will find 2 sunlongers to enable you to enjoy your morning coffee in the warm sunshine. A further twin bedroom and full bathroom are also situated on this floor with access up the next stairway leading to a full size roof solarium. All 3 bedrooms have built in wardrobes. The villa boasts its own gated driveway at the front for parking and has a front and side garden. The front porch, and roof top solarium have patio furniture, a large table with six chairs (great for entertaining) and an expanding clothes dryer for the solarium. The Kitchen is fully fitted with washer, fridge, hob, full oven and microwave and the living area has cable TV with all your main British channels and multi sports and movie channels, DVD and a CD player. towels and bedding are provided but not beach towels. The development enjoys the use of a communal swimming pool, childrens pool area and sun bathing area which is situated immediately in front of the villa. (this is handy to keep an eye on the children from the villa). Arriving late? You can prebook a Welcome Pack (through the owner) with the items you request, payable to our local agent by you on arrival, plus a 5 euros charge. Notice required for this service. The only additional cost to this booking is for the handover of the keys and the final clean ( 50 Euros ) paid Locally.
Air conditioning is installed in the 3 bedrooms and living area. The property also has a safe for your personal items.
Beaches
Costa Blanca beaches have a good record - over 30 have been awarded EU 2 blue flag standards for cleanliness, safety and amenities - more than any other coast. Busy beaches have lifeguards, Red Cross posts and sometimes rescue boats. All the beaches have soft white sand with very clear seawater. The further north you go the beaches are rocky but as you come south they become smooth. There are sun beds available for hire. Car parking is free as it is on most of the other beaches in the area. GUARDAMAR beach has a long stretch of clean soft sand with some bars and restaurants along the paved walkway.

Jim & Margaret says: "Before we left for Spain we noticed another review had been published reference this villa and it was'nt particularly flattering, this therefore gave us some concern. However on arriving our fears were soon vanquished, this is a lovely well kept villa in a very nice neighbourhood of friendly people. We found the villa well stocked and did not lack anything, the communal pool was very convenient just opposite the villa and a newly open supermarket just around the corner supplies all your needs. We were also looked after very well by the key holder Alison who made sure we did'nt want for anything - she's a real star.The situation of the villa means a brisk 20 - 25 minute walk into Montesinos if you wish a meal and a few drinks which can be a bit tiresome and to get the best of your time at La Herrada you do need a car to give you access to all the wonderful beaches and inland scenery. Weh ad a great time here and would go back at the drop of a hat."
