Our first croatian holiday was in Split and we loved Diocletian's Palace, the fantastic weather and the crystal clear sea. Then we started hearing about the islands and how beautiful they were. Eventually we came to Brac and realized that with the ferries sailing back and forth all day between Supetar and the mainland we could have the best of both worlds: shopping and fun in Split and the joys of a beach vacation on the island. The fact that Postira is only 6km from Supetar, the main ferry port for Brac, makes the trip that much easier. 

Orange Grove House is not your typical holiday house by the sea. Originally a convent, it is extremely spacious with large airy rooms, all of which have panoramic views either over the harbour or the secluded gardens behind the house. The property's size, the nature of its construction out of Brac stone, and its soundproof qualities make it very suitable for two related families to share a holiday there, each one having a floor to themselves, and sharing the TV room [this room contains two sofas and, although small, will comfortably seat 5 people at a time], kitchen, large dining terrace overlooking the garden with seating for 8 people, sun terrace and totally enclosed garden for meals and recreation [second bathroom accessed via external steps from the dining terrace]. It is unusual to find such a large house on the coast that has not been divided up for multiple occupation.

This is an authentic Croatian village house that has been constructed of Brac stone. Elegant and spacious, it retains the original features with which it was built including the original floorboards [some of which are 30 inches wide]. The simple elegance of the house is enhanced by the fact that it retains so many original features, including its original door furniture.

By the 2007 season the house will have been totally redecorated internally. The owner is providing new king-sized beds for the two massive double bedrooms, and we plan to refurbish the kitchen for the 2007 season.

The cost of renting this property includes the compulsory Croatian Tourist Tax payable per person per night, together with Croatian VAT of 10%. 

Postira is a charming little fishing village, and the house is at the heart of it. This means that the local farmers' market, supermarket, bakery, post office, bank and fish market are moments away. Just around the bay, the local hotel has a fabulous swimming pool and solarium that guests can use if they buy drinks or use the buffet. For those who prefer sea bathing there are many local beaches including Lovrecina beach (10 minutes away by car) that has its own restaurant. Being central, the house is near bars and restaurants or you might decided to take a trip to Supetar or Splitska, another little seaside village further along the coast. 

What makes Orange Grove House special is that it is massively built and extremely spacious. Until comparatively recently it was a convent. It is unusual to find such a large house on the coast that has not be divided up for multiple occupation.

The village house comprises 4 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin, 1 single and 1 cots. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the TV lounge. This gives room for up to 8 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The village house has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use.

The village house has television satellite/cable.

There is room for 5 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Smoking is allowed in this village house.

The location of the village house means you will hear some noise, though not excessive. It has a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, a north facing balcony, sea views, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque.

The village house is right beside a beach, swimming, fishing, walking, scuba diving, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Close to the village house you will find sailing, boat hire.

Within easy reach of the village house you will find water skiing, wind surfing, climbing, flying, cycling, mountain biking, tennis, a sports center, historic sites, a museum.

If you wish you can take a sightseeing flight in a Cesna plane from Brac Airport.

The famous Zlatni Rat Beach [Golden Horn] 45 mins. away. Lovrecina Beach 10 mins.
