Cherry Tree Farm is set in just over 1 hectare of land located on the edge of the Ojcowski National Park, 16 km west of Krakow in the direction of Olkusz in the village of Wierzchowie. The property is very quietly located on a hilltop with spectacular views of the Wierzchowska limestone cliff to the front and woodland and the distant Tatra mountains to the rear.

The house was built in 1996 but has gone through extensive modernisation and refurbishment to a very high standard including building a fourth bedroom (open plan double and en-suite) into the roof area which is reached by a short wooden staircase which may make it unsuitable for young children and the elderly.

The property has 2 double bedrooms (1 en-suite), 1 twin bedroom and one single bedroom, three bathrooms, a living room, kitchen/dining room. A sofa bed in the living room means that the property will comfortably sleep 9 to 10 people. Fully equipped kitchen, and a washing machine. TV (Satellite system)/DVD provided with a large selection of films/Small paperback library . The living room backs onto a patio through double doors overlooking a beautiful garden. Polished wooden flooring throughout the house. Outdoor lighting enables the garden to be enjoyed late into the evening and a coal BBQ is provided for the use of the guests. There is a large car parking area and a garage available for one car. The house and its garden are fully fenced (up to the woodland) making this an ideal property for families with children. Guests are welcome to help themselves to any growing fruit when in season (mainly cherries and raspberries).

To the rear the property has its own mature woodland, including its own limestone cliff, offering spectacular views over open countryside.

The property is the perfect country retreat, offering a very quiet location, yet only 20 minutes by car to Krakow market square or Balice airport. There is a cheap regular local mini-bus service from the local village to Krakow city centre and taxis are readily available in Krakow, however the hire of a car is recommended since public transport in Poland can be very unreliable, uncomfortable and crowded. Car hire is readily available both in Krakow or at Balice airport.

Whilst smoking is discouraged in the house, guests are welcome to smoke on the terrace and in the grounds of the property.

Whilst there is no computer at the property we can provide internet access through the Orange network if you have your own wireless enabled laptop with a USB port.

The owners are English / Polish speaking and we or family members are pleased to meet you on your arrival at the house (or at Krakow airport by prior arrangement).


Bookings are usually taken weekend to weekend but please contact us should you wish your booking to start on a different day or if you wish to book for a period other than for 7 or 14 nights.
 

Krakow is only 16km away and has many sights. Enjoy the Royal castle and Cathedral at Wawel, climb the tower of St. Mary’s Basilica, shop in the cloth hall, wander the streets of the Jewish district of Kazimierz, visit the communist city of Nowa Huta, explore the salt mine at Wieliczka and then enjoy a lovely meal and a drink in the largest market square in Europe.

Further afield – Auschwitz is less than an hour’s drive away from Krakow and the Tatra mountains and Zakopane can be reached in about 2 hours. Czestochowa, and the shrine of the Black Madonna, is one hour’s drive away from the property. Explore the limestone gorges and castles of the Ojcow National Park. Wadowice (birthplace of the Polish Pope) can be reached in less than an hour. The monastries at Tyniec and Bielany are within half an hours drive from the house.
 

If the purpose of your visit to Krakow is to celebrate a special occasion or event, the owners are able to provide catering and entertainment services at the house, including BBQs, dinners, live bands. By arrangement the owners can also organise extreme sports such as quad biking, river rafting, bungee jumping, paint ball, ballooning. Tour guides can also be arranged. Also go karting. To the front the property overlooks the spectacular Wierzchowska limestone cliff. A sofa bed in the living room gives total sleeping accomodation in the house for up to 10 people.

The house comprises 4 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 1 twin, 1 single, 1 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has 1 double sofa bed located in the Living room area. This gives room for up to 10 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The house has 3 bathrooms and 3 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The house has television dvd, satellite/cable.

There is room for 8 in the living room and 8 in the dining room. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The house is in a very quiet area. It has a south facing garden, a south facing patio area, panoramic views, interesting views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking and a garage with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

Close to the house you will find climbing, horse riding, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the house you will find swimming, fishing, skiing/snowboarding, golf, tennis, historic sites, a museum, a theatre/cinema, shopping areas.

Monica says: "Am delighted to have stayed in Cherry Tree Farm and would love to return one day to the hectare of garden and woods, with lovely wild flowers and walks extending as far as one wanted. Limestone scenery and caves, and breathtaking sunsets from nearby. The house was very flexible for 8-9 peaple coming for a wedding, and good for the young children, who caught chicken pox and had to stay on longer. Fotunately the house was available for a further 12 days. Grateful for maps of the region, through which we found the local shops, and places of interest, and that the owner met us at the airport on arrival. The house is not easy to find in the dark and when new to the country. Some electrical faults occured, but through emails to London, a neighbour soon organised the appropriate repairs. Internet connection was essential, and reliable.And it proved necessary to be able to email the owners to clarify points before booking. In general, people were very friendly and helpful. I just wish I could speak Polish!"
