Casa Merlo is part of the recently restored and reconstructed medieval borgo of Le Ginestre at Greppolieschieto. Le Ginestre lies within 100 hectares of oak forest near the Umbrian/Tuscan border which in turn is surrounded by forests and open farmland.

Casa Merlo has beams and handmade antique 'cotto' flooring throughout and offers spacious living accommodation with a cosy romantic atmosphere, ideally suited to both family stays or couples looking for a romantic break. 

Le Ginestre is the ideal location to switch-off from the toils of everyday life and lose oneself in the tranquillity and beauty of the local countryside. The perfect location to relax and read, paint or just simply listen to the sounds of nature. For those with children it is an ideal base for the children to play and explore the countryside in safety.

For those who need a little more action to unwind the cottage is surrounded by beautiful walks across the hills, over open countryside or through the dense forests and un-touched valleys. Mountain bike trails like the hiking trails can be found in the adjacent countryside; maps showing the trails together with guidebooks and an Italian Road Atlas can be found in the house.
 

Le Ginestre offers a unique opportunity to experience the peace and tranquillity of the Umbrian countryside, close to Lake Trasimeno (20 km) and with many major sightseeing towns within 1 hours drive or less. These include Panacale, Perugia, Assisi, Montepulciano, Siena, Spoleto, Montefalco and Orvieto to mention just a few of the many places in the area to visit.
For those that would like a break from driving, the trip to Rome, Florence and many other destinations can be made easily by train from Chiusi or Orvieto both of which offer a fast and reliable service.

Le Ginestre offers those who enjoy walking ample opportunity to explore the surrounding hills and countryside. Walking maps are available in the house.

The neighbouring village of Castiglion Fosco, just 3.5 km down the road offers a good Alimentari with butchers and fresh bread; a Farmacia, 24hr Petrol Station and Café. Tavernelle, our local town offers a wider range of shops, banks, supermarkets and cantina selling local wines by the bottle or by the litre.
 

A communal washing machine and tumble drier are available for guest's use. The Borgo stands within 100 hectares of oak forests. The views from the back and front gardens are spectacular. the only sounds to break the silence is usually the many birds that reside at Ginestre unless it is the sound of a snuffling Wild Boar!

The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin and 1 cots. The property also has 1 single sofa bed. This gives room for up to 5 people. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.

The cottage has 1 bathrooms and 1 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

The cottage has television video, dvd. The music system will play cassettes, cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a fridge, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

The cottage is in a very quiet area. It has access to a shared swimming pool, a south facing garden, panoramic views, interesting views. If you are driving there is private parking with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The cottage is right beside swimming, walking, cycling, mountain biking.

Close to the cottage you will find tennis, historic sites, shopping areas, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find sailing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, flying, horse riding, golf, a museum, a theatre/cinema, a restaurant.

Le Ginestre is surrounded by many beautiful Umbrian and Tuscan hilltowns and vineyards
