Our luxury 3 bedroom Villa is located close to the small Portuguese village of Aldeia do Meco in the Costa Azul and set within a private video entry gated development of 4 properties. Lugar do Sol faces the Atlantic Ocean with far reaching views across the sea to Cascais and Sintra.

Designed by an award winning architect, the property is set around a private central courtyard to take in the views across the bay and the fantastic sunsets. There is also a large BBQ area ideal for outside entertaining.

Its South Californian inside-outside living style provides a relaxed open feeling, whilst its two wings offer privacy. The master suite occupies the upper floor and comprises of master bedroom, luxury ensuite shower room and a large sun terrace. The ground floor sleeping wing also has a large double bedroom with doors opening directly onto the courtyard and shares a luxury bathroom with a smaller bedroom (with bunkbeds large enough to accommodate adults). The main living area is located on the opposite side of the courtyard and offers a large living space, decorated with top quality furnishings. You will also find on the ground floor a fully equipped kitchen and for everyone’s convenience another WC.

Aldeia do Meco is only a short drive from central Lisbon or Sesimbra town centre. Situated to the south of Lisbon, it is close to the Serra da Arrabida Natural Park. The beach at Praia do Meco is considered to be the Pearl of the Costa Azul with its wide sandy beaches and clear surf. Aldeia do Meco and its neighboring villages offer a good selection of cafes, restaurants and bars attracting a very mixed and trendy crowd. The area is also very popular with TV and film producers. On the beach itself is a bar and restaurant, which in the summer season offers private sun loungers with a full waiter service. The local villages also offer a good selection of shops selling local produce and groceries.

Sesimbra is an ancient fishing Port and is known as having the freshest fish in Portugal. It is a lively town by night with the streets lined with amazing restaurants. You will be spoilt for choice and during a two week visit you would easily eat at a different restaurant for every meal. There is a good selection of bars and disco’s along the promenade, but Sesimbra remains very family orientated. By day, there is plenty to explore including the 13th century Castle, which offers both history and some amazing views over the town below.

Close to Sesimbra is Cabo do Espichel, with its deserted Monastery here it feels like the end of the world as the windswept cliffs plunge into the deep blue Atlantic Ocean several hundred feet below.

Azeitao can be found not far from Sesimbra and has a number of grand houses once owned by Portuguese noble men, Azeitao is also the centre of the wine route. The roads are lined with vineyards and adega’s where you can sample fine quality wines and cheeses.

 

The Costa Azul offers a wide choice of beaches many of which have blue flags and each having its own unique features.

Lagoa da Albuferia with its large lagoon is ideal for windsurfing and the dunes and pools offer ideal places to splash around with younger children.

Praia das Bicas is a quiet beach with good surf, very clean waters and backed by dramatic cliffs. Walk north along this beach and you will find a natural spring where the mineral rich mud can be used to cleanse and replenish the skin. This beach is also popular with naturists, but most of all its has a very laid back atmosphere.

Praia do Meco (Moinho de Baixo), is a popular beach and offers good facilities.

Make the short trip into Sesimbra, and you will find another two beaches with very calm waters ideal for less experienced swimmers. Travel a little further along the coast towards Setubal and you will arrive at the fantastic Portinho da Arrabida, set in the Arrabida Natural Park it has a very Adriatic feeling with warm, calm waters and islands.
On the opposite side of the Sado estuary via a short ferry ride is the Troia peninsula with many miles of un-spoilt beaches lining its coast. Further south deep in Alentejo, another must see is Porto Covo with its stunning cliffs, surf and small bays.

The villa has television dvd. The music system will play cds, radio.

There is room for 6 in the living room and 6 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a dish washer, a washing machine, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

This property is mainly on one level, however, there are two steps from the front door to the entrance hall.  

The villa is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has a west facing garden, a west facing patio area, a west facing balcony, sea views, panoramic views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking and a garage with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

The villa is right beside shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Close to the villa you will find a beach, swimming, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, scuba diving, historic sites, a museum.

Within easy reach of the villa you will find golf, tennis, a zoo, a theatre/cinema.
