With a double bed and a single futon bed in each of the two ensuite rooms this beautiful 12thcentury cottage is perfect for 2 - 4 people, yet can comfortably accomodate 6 people. It has been tastefully renovated to provide quality, affordable self – catering accommodation. It was formerly the stables for visitors to the famous Abbaye Royale. In keeping with it’s age and the local architecture, Abbaye Cottage boasts beautiful tuffeau limestone walls throughout and many original features are still retained such as a magnificent stone staircase and a huge open fireplace in the lounge. Available to rent on a weekly or monthly basis, the cottage is available all year round, making a perfect hideaway out of season. It offers two spacious double bedrooms with ensuite facilities and a folding futon bed in each room too. A large, yet cosy kitchen with excellent dining and cooking facilities so that you can entertain in the French tradition. The large lounge looks out onto the terrace and walled garden, which is secluded and a fantastic suntrap all year round. Garden furniture gives you the opportunity to dine outside in the sunshire or the shade.
Abbaye Cottage provides the perfect holiday home to rent for either a family or couple. It’s also a great base for your own house hunting with an excellent local estate agent speaking English and Dutch. 

Fontevraud L’Abbaye is situated in the heart of the Loire Valley in beautiful countryside in a location famous for it’s great wines. In the village itself, less than 100 meters from Abbaye Cottage is the final resting place of King Richard the Lion Heart and King Henry II of England. This beautiful Abbaye Royale is in the process of extensive restoration and is currently the ‘Centre de Culture de L’Ouest’. Things not to miss during your visit are:

There is a single futon bed in each bedroom as well as the main beds. There is garden furniture allowing you the pleasure of eating in the garden. Winter / cold weather sur charge for electricity, for heating rooms using the electric wall mounted ratiators. Bed linen is always provided, towels can be ordered in advance.

The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 2 double, 2 of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The property also has 2 single sofa beds located in the one in each bedroom. This gives room for up to 4 people.

The cottage has 2 bathrooms and 2 WCs for your party's use. Central heating keeps you snug and warm.

There is room for 4 in the living room and 4 in the dining room. The open fire can be used to create a comfortable atmosphere. To prepare food you will find a cooker, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a kettle, a toaster. You will also find a washing machine, a clothes drier, an iron and ironing board. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensils.

Pets are welcome
You must not allow pets on the bedding or furniture.
You are responsible for cleaning after your pet.
If a substantial amount of cleaning or repairs are required after your departure, an extra cleaning charge will be deducted from your deposit acordingly.

The cottage is in a very quiet area. It has a east facing garden, a east facing patio area, a barbeque.

The cottage is right beside walking, cycling, mountain biking, a sports center, historic sites, a museum, shopping areas, a restaurant, a food shop.

Within easy reach of the cottage you will find swimming, horse riding, a zoo, a theatre/cinema, a themepark.
